Even if you use RJ45 from the ONT to the router, MoCA is used on the LAN side to communicate with the STBs. |

| My setup sounds similar to yours. My Actiontec router is fed through cat 5 for internet connectivity. There is also a coax line from the Actiontec to the coax lan (which is from ONT to STBs) which feeds in guide information and VOD. The STBs get the information from the Actiontec that way. So even if your set up for cat 5, there still needs to be a coax line out of the Actiontec to feed that information to the STBs |
