Or do it the correct way, and restart with the user interface. Open a browser, type 192.168.0.1 in the address line and press enter. This will open the top level of the modem use interface. The restart hyperlink should be in the upper right corner

Look at the top of the control panel there is a restart button. or just unplug it and plug it back in.
