Re: dlink 524

What's the current WAN ip address for the 524? If it is your public IP, just indicate that. If it is a 192.168 address, tell us more about how your network is connected.

i went to WAN settings and its set to dynamic ip. I then when to another WAN section and it says my IP is 192.168.254.1 this supplies wireless internet to all my laptop. hope this helps.

Re: dlink 524

If I am understanding you correctly, the WAN IP is 192.168.254.1 and the router LAN IP is 192.168.254.250.

Sorry, but that is not going to work, and is the cause of your problem. The WAN ip needs to be on a different subnet from the LAN ip range, or otherwise the router will not route.

If your plan is to just extend the same LAN as your other router, and perhaps add a second SSID, then you should consider setting up your dlink as just as AP (access point) instead of a router. For this, you disable the dhcp server, and connect to your other network with a LAN port rather than a WAN port.

Re: dlink 524

I don't have an xbox, so no experience there. If it requires port forwarding, you would have to do that on your other router (not the dlink).
