said by cableok :said by theavenger1 :Today I got a call from Cox telling me I need to replace my old D-link DCM202 modem with a newer model. The caller had zero tech knowledge and couldn't tell me why the change or what model I will receive for $10.00. What gives? I am in the Oklahoma City area. Sorry they did not give you better information. The reason there is a need to swap out the modem is because your modem will not reach all the speeds available on the Cox network. Also, to be able to offer additional services like DOCSIS 3.0 some modems must be taken off the network. I think you will be pleased with your internet service performance after you swap out your modem. like i posted in the thread I linked to why retire the dlink when it is a Docsis 2.0 modem? |

He answered your question. That modem is an older model in which it will not reach the speeds available on the Cox network. Also, there has been a large push to get the non-DOCSIS 3 modems out as Cox prepares to launch DOCSIS 3 in the near future. |
