<title>[Rant] Forced Install?</title>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1183016"><b>FenglerF1</b></A> : I must admit that I think it is absurd, Midcontinent Communication forces Cable Modem installation. <br>Is there really a need? all they have to do on their end is to register the Mac address of the modem correct? must they send a tech out to my house and charge a $35 fee? all I get from them is that it is protocol but the service techs. call it old school and don't understand the reasoning behind it.<br><br>Honestly though... is this standard protocol with all Cable Internet Providers?
