A moot point if the doctor has an iPhone (or another AT&T or T-Mobile handset).

| Re: 911 service controversy. And it could probably almost be guaranteed that if he got to the correct dispatch center all he had to tell them is that he was at Michael's house and I am sure they would know the location. At least enough to know what fire station and ambulance to dispatch. Plus you know the police know the address.. | |

I think even AT&T and T-Mobile networks support some sort of 911 geolocation (based on cell phone towers I think).

If a POTS line and a cell phone were equally accessible, I'd probably use the POTS line, but if the POTS line were even a minute farther away, cell phone all the way.

| I'm on ATT here in Cali, and called 911 to report a dumpster fire. I started telling the 911 operator my location and she said she already knew it.
I could understand a little old lady or whatever claiming a half hour search - but a doctor wouldn't. Besides, I saw somewhere else that the person on the phone with 911 WASN"T the doctor, but someone else in the house. The operator asked if the caller was doing the CPR and the person said no - the doctor was.

1 edit | If you were to watch the CNN interview of Jackson's attorney yesterday, you would see that all the posts here speculating about the 911 call are way off base. Jackson's attorney spelled out the time line of events with a fair amount of detail. -- "The world is a book; those who do not travel read but a single page." -St. Augustine

2) In a recent post, you yourself said: "Do you know Jollibee? Have you eaten at Goldilocks? You can find such places in California! You can even buy Magnolia Ice Cream there." So what does that have to do with VoIP?
3) In point of fact, the questions of 911 calling in general, 911 and Voip, and using cellphones for 911, have ALL been topics of discussion in this forum.
