said by Cjaiceman :Well, it may be kind of "junky", but who is providing more than 4 channels to bond anyways? Give it time and they will come out with models that have 8 channels, but the provider must give 8 channels to bond. We haven't even been given upstream bonding yet, so, we have some time before anything more than 4 will be given on the download side. I just think it would have made more sense to drop equipment that could support 8 channels out of the gate.
Anyway, D3 is on in Lakewood... But its absolutely KILLED my downstream speeds and dropped me from 64QAM to 16 on upload.
They're still doing maintenance out here though so hopefully it gets fixed soon. My internet was out ALL last night and they told me that it would be up at 6:30... noticed my modem was flashing trying to get online when I woke up, unplugged it, plugged it back in, and I got all excited when I got the blue light... then I realized that my speed dropped dramatically. BOOOOOOOO!

EDIT: Before anyone quotes my signal as the issue, this is the speedtest direct to the wall (-9 across the board):
They must be working on something because I can't pause 21Mbps...

Are you on Blast? I used to hit ~30-35 mbps powerboost, some time in the past months I got capped at 22 just like you. My SB6120 arrived today, I'll post a speed test when I get home and hook it up. |

And even still, that doesn't explain why I lost 64QAM on my upstream. -- ** I am a Comcast employee. Posts on this site are my own, not my employer's ** |

Well did you hook up your own d3 stuff or did a tech do this for you? because if a tech didnt do it.. I would definitely get one out and check your signal levels. Because -12/-14 is on the edge, and still -9 directly to the modem. You want the close to 0 as possible, and being where your at now is shitty for D3. |

I should at least be getting what I was getting before. I've had a -12 to -13 signal since they hooked it up and they pretty much said there is nothing they can do about it.
I don't think its a signal issue. I was pulling 32 down and pushing 11 up previously on D2 with the same signal strength and my download speed should have at least increased when I removed the -3.5 splitter in the living room. -- ** I am a Comcast employee. 1 edit | Ok well maybe there isnt nothing they can do, maybe your too close to the node or something, i dunno. Anyways if they just did this switch over last night... I would give them a week before complaining much, because there CS aint gunna be able to do much for you except give you the run around. Btw what tier of service are you paying for anyways?
Plus did you notice anything funny in your modems log since they did the switch? |

| I'm on Blast. Highest that they're offering here til 3Q/4Q when I will automatically get bumped to Ultra. But I'd rather get the bugs worked out now than later...
Cjaiceman had no problems getting D3 going in Aurora... They did, however, have a total internet outage in Lakewood last night. I suppose they could still be having issues... -- ** I am a Comcast employee. Posts on this site are my own, not my employer's ** |

Yes you can never compare your areas D3 to another with how they got theres going so fast, there can always be problems they run into, and it can take time to fix, and etc. So i wouldnt freak out right now atleast. Btw whats the speeds for that package your on? because im seeing speeds up to 22mb down with ultra.. and so im thinking blast is a speed tier below it? If so then getting 21mb down isnt bad, and they aint gunna do anything for that extra speed if you are getting what your suppost to anyways. |

| Well all i can say is call in and complain. I mean are you even using these speeds atm? I mean if all your doing is running speedtest, then there is no reason to complain. Because your only gunna get maybe another 250kb's more with 24mb down and its only gunna last a short time. Go to Testmy.net, and run the smartest for download speeds, and post back here your results. |

Its not the downstream I'm worried about... I want my upstream back. I do a lot of upstream work. Torrenting Ubuntu ISOs for example.
Oh well, we'll wait and see if it stabilizes. I posted in the ComcastDirect forum about it... I'm going to tell my modem to reset to factory defaults and pull everything again and see if that makes a difference. -- ** I am a Comcast employee. Posts on this site are my own, not my employer's ** |

I got 64QAM uploads back by doing that.
As for the downstream, I guess powerboost is capped now. Never used to be. Oh well, that's life.
Its still getting T3 timeouts though. -- ** I am a Comcast employee. Posts on this site are my own, not my employer's ** |

Well, it seems the same thing has happened here with Blast 16/2 in the Chicago area. Upload is now 16QAM even after resetting to defaults. Also, after resetting to defaults, my 6120's config file only shows a T3 timeout. Nothing else. Before it would show the config file name download. Something is not right!
We had a 5 hour outage today too. Prior to today, I was hitting about 50mbps powerboost and 9-10mbps upload powerboost. Now it seems powerboost is completely gone
I will try resetting to factory defaults again tomorrow and see what happens. |

| They've been updating the CMTSs to lock down powerboost so that people that get ridiculous powerboosts, maybe that is part of your problem?
Oh and my 6120 has not shown me my config file even once. -- ** I am a Comcast employee. Posts on this site are my own, not my employer's ** |

Oh and my 6120 has not shown me my config file even once. My powerboost is still essentially gone on the downstream, although I still hit 9-10mbps upstream. Your modem log doesn't show the following or similar?

1 edit | reply to Eth_Rem Your downstream power levels and SNR's arent that great. Your snr is ok, but the signal strength is way out of wack.
I know you said there is nothing they can do about it, but try posting on the comcast direct forum, or tweeting someone from the comcast team.
I had terrible signals, and they did eventually fix them. I was at +15 dBmV downstream, 33dB SNR, 55 dBmV upstream. I am now at -3 dBmV downstream, 36 dB SNR, and 49 dBmV... the tech who came out yesterday wasn't happy with those numbers, and set me up to have the tap be redesigned and to have a new line run. |
