| reply to msmaryanne1 Re: [Cable] Digital channels
Most modern TVs have QAM digital decoders. The are able to receive non-encrypted digital cable channels.
Digital modulation is much more efficient then analog allowing multiple programs to be broadcast where only a single analog program was possible before.
Sounds like cable provider has programmed Set-top-box to display it a a main channel number instead of a sub-channel to avoid confusion.

| I recently bought a new T.V. and while programming the channels, I found these odd digital channels. For example, 107.45, which is Spike T.V., a channel that also appears on my basic cable as just channel 45. Also I am able to get HD channels without a converter box. What are they? I can't find anything about these channels anywhere. |
