DIR-615 XBOX LIVE HELP PLX

Hello,

I love playing xbox but I couldn't run a cord so I had to buy a wireless adapter and a router. This one looked good cause it had 2 antennas LOL . So anyways its been a year or 2 and I guess my connection hasn't been bad but it hasn't been good. Lately its been horrible, getting disconnected from a party with only friends who all live within 7 km of my house. Lagging out deep in Nazi Zombies with 147 headshots. Its unreal.

I am not an idiot when it comes to this stuff, and I have tried everything. DMZ, port forwarding, but everyone I talk to can't fix the problem, and I don't understand this routers website interface, thats why I came here.

I have good internet that is able to handle the live, even over a wireless connection. The xbox is literally 10 feet away from the modem, just 1 floor below.

I have 2 wireless laptops, and 1 computer attached to the modem. I insist on the computers being off when I play but regardless no computers have any bittorrents or any other programs that would be constantly milking bandwith.

I know NATS have something to do with xbox live and I see the NAT ENDPOINT FILTERING here but I don't know what I should be doing to make my router and my XBL work to the best of their abilities.

Thank You.

Re: DIR-615 XBOX LIVE HELP PLX

Im not too familiar with the router so it depends what wireless settings you have.

Set wireless channel 11, you need to disable auto channel scan.
Use 802.11 b only, or 802.11 g only - see what works better, g only is faster, but doesn't mean its better.

ADVANCED WIRELESS SETTINGS.

Not sure what settings you have here, but if you have some of these settings try changing them.

Beacon Period: 38
DTIM Interval: 3
WLAN Partition: yes
WWM Enable: yes
Short GI: yes

Create a virtual server/port forward.

WAN Port Speed set to 100mbps, I don't use auto, anything that is set to auto generally has errors.

If you have a gaming mode try it on, and try it off, see what works best.
