Re: 101 anyone?

I just got back from a wedding in Campbell and it was over a hundred down there. Thank goodness the church and reception hall had A/C.

It's about 82 here in Alameda right now.

I expect 104 or higher today.

Close enough... wasn't going to stand there any longer and wait for it to keep climbing, ya know?

Yesterday with the temps at 108 and the hot breeze I was having flash backs to summers in New Mexico. HOT!

Re: 101 anyone?

It was cooler here today, about 95, it had dropped into the mid 70's by 8 PM and it's 65 right now at 10:30 PM, and we're only gonna have low to mid 80's by Friday, woo hoo! Bye bye heat

In the midst of all this heat,a record low was tied this morning in Eureka-

Statement as of 5:30 PM PDT on June 30, 2009

... Record low temperature tied at Eureka CA...

a record low temperature of 45 degrees was set at Eureka
California today. This ties the old record of 45 set in 1985.

It was 100 in Redwood Valley today, I'm sick of this heat already! Thankfully we get a nice, moist cooling onshore (we're 28 miles inland) flow at night, so even on the hottest of days it cools down into the upper 40's to mid 50's. The Wine Grapes here love it, keeps the sugars in check and makes the wine from Redwood Valley unique (it is a registered Viticultural area).

It's been cool here the past couple of days, highs in the 60's to low 70's, and mid to upper 40's at night, it was 46 last night. That's one thing about our area unlike Lake County or further inland, if there's a strong enough onshore flow it will stay cool even in the middle of summer, however, Lake County can get some ocean influence as well if the flow goes inland far enough.

A bit of the on-shore today.
Even a little still visible fog above the water looking out towards Santa Rosa/Sears Point.

Don't sweat it too much, I was over in SF this afternoon and the fog was rolling in, jacket weather!
At the same time 90 degrees and low humidity here 40 miles inland.

It sounds like it was quite a bit hotter there than Redwood Valley, it only hit the mid 70's here today and it's 52 right now at 1 AM. It's actually been cold (low to mid 40's) at night here for the past week or so, they've even hit the upper 30's in Laytonville.

It was actually cold last night, it got down to 42 here in Redwood Valley, today it only hit the mid 70's, nice We always get an onshore flow at night here inland, and when it's strong enough it stays around all day like it has lately. I guess being only 28 miles from the coast helps

Did you camp out in Island Park at all? One my favorite spots anywhere is Buffalo Campground by the Buffalo River, my favorite river to fish. My family's been going up to Island Park for over 100 years now, you just can't beat it for beauty and fishing.

Went through there, great area, 2 lodges and public access down every side road. Definitely a sleeper area that most on their way to Yellowstone pass through.

The Sawtooth range and Island Park are under represented on a national scale, but that is a good thing, no crowds.

The picture is a free NFS camp north of the Tetons on the upper Snake river wilderness. Nothing like you, a couple other campers, bears and wildlife, and no cell phones for interruptions.

Re: 101 anyone?

Yes it is, and that's a good thing like you say. Lassen Volcanic National Park here in CA is another, very few visitors compared to other parks.

We've spent many a good summer in Island Park, at Mack's Inn Campground and Buffalo River Campground, and through Yellowstone. Island Park ROCKS, what can I say! Speaking of that, did you go by Quake Lake?

West Yellowstone is still a pretty down to earth town, unlike Jackson. They have a store there where you can get souveniers for a dollar or less, all of us kids got a ton there lol Jackson is just too overpriced and "elite", it didn't used to be that way though, and some would turn West Yellowstone and Island Park into that if they had their way.

How hot was it? (Answer that like the Cosby Show question they'd always ask "How ugly is he?" )
