if the hardware REQUIRES vista or better you can bet there is DRM. its this way with the newer ATI capture cards.

Right... I did start a thread here about a video recorded over S-Video not being able to be played due to copyright restrictions but I think that was just some weird fluke as S-Video is analog as well and shouldn't be flagged as restricted content.

I'm really loving my HD-PVR. Yesterday, I converted a HD-PVR M2TS HD file to a MPEG-2 DVD compatible file and burned it to a DVD (after editing). The results were great. I hope you enjoy yours, too!
