NOT trying to stat a troll war, but SWL

thanks for your reply,as in the past & is you & "your" frends way, I do not see you offering any site or links,

I hate paying for something if I can find it for free,

why should i pay for an apple, when I can go on the farmers land and TAKE ONE OFF A TREE RIGHT?
It may be hard for you to believe, but there exists places out there that offer free hosting. It's not theft to use such a service.

Sounds like your site is really simple; a few pictures and text. Check out freewebs. I'd even bet they have a guestbook widget that would be easy to implement.

I'm not sure if it is still around or not, but the one I mentioned, aimoo, was at www.aimoo.com. Sorry I didn't post the link earlier.

Actually, I wasn't advocating theft, lol. Using the apple and farmer, what it is more like is the farmer giving you the apple, but making you tell everyone you meet where you got it. These sites let you operate for free, but post a lot of advertisements that everyone that comes to your site has to see all the time.

If I come across any more free hosting sites with the parameters you listed, I'll be sure to post them here.

Most ISP's offer 10MBs of space for free when you use their services. I know cox (my ISP) offers something like that and it is free. You could easily password protect your site and only give it out to your "friends".

I'm still thinking you can find plenty of places where you can do this for free and not have to be charged for it. One that wouldn't require people to register and that you could set up a "special" user that you give out to all your good friends and family. A long time ago there was a place called aimoo where you might could do something like that, and make that one special user. The only drawback to free is that often time you have to deal with a lot of ads and such.

I hate paying for something if I can find it for free.

noting special about the web pages,(family) except maybe let other parents see & know,-inspire them-DON'T TAKE NO for an answer or NO is not an optionwhen you need help for a child or loved one.except this time they WILL be protected.

How about facebook or myspace?
Both my Facebook and MySpace accounts are closed to anyone unless I approve them as friends. So far I have had no problems with either account.
========================================
but both of those are for teenagers, young adults, beside I would need 5 pages, plus one for guestbook,

and didn't one of those recently get busted for online prostitution?
Neither Facebook nor MySpace is strictly a teenager or young adult site. Any and everyone is free to set up and maintain a personal account. I find that I can keep in touch with my close friends and relatives and they also can make contact with long lost friends if they happen to see someone familiar on my page.

The only way someone can see who's on my Facebook or MySpace page is to be on my friends list, which only I can approve or disapprove. I can cancel a friend anytime I choose if they do something I don't like - of course that has never happened because these are people who are close to me in real life.

As for the multiple pages - I have a photos section, a blog sectionand a comments column. For each photo a friend can make a comment on that particular photo. I can set up my photos into albums, separating them by groups. In my Blog I can write anything I want to tell my friends.

MySpace has a music feature but I have not found that feature on Facebook - but I don't find it necessary to add music because friends who view my pages may not be interested in my type music. I would never add that stupid midi music that was so popular when the web first came out - it's dopey IMO.

So I wouldn't rule out either Facebook or MySpace as a source for your special web page - they both are free and user friendly. I find Facebook the more user friendly than MySpace, but that's up to the individual to decide which they like better.

You could use any hosting service and simply place your entire site (or any part of it) into a folder and password that folder. Then you could give the password out to whoever you want to.
