Regarding The Rain This Summer In New England
A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment.
As he stood there he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the
pearly gates into Heaven. Others though, were led over to Satan who threw them into
the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the fire, Satan
would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile..
After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him.
So he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing.
"Excuse me, Mr. Prince of Darkness," he said. "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I
couldn't help wondering, why are you tossing those people aside instead of flinging
them into the Fires of Hell with the others?"
"Ah, those," Satan said with a groan. "They're all from New England...
They're still too wet to burn." |

Except we don't need to because it's raining all the time. It's been a challenge keeping up with my new tiny lawn, between the rain and other constraints on my time (i.e., work,) and the weeds and the ivy are absolutely loving this weather.

'Scuse me? By my reckoning, there's been exactly one day this summer worth shaving and wearing a dress for. Would it kill Mother Nature to give us one, just one, straight week of hot-and-sunny, just because it is that time of year, after all? Plus I'm having a little get-together for the lab at the new house on Friday, and I'd really like the weather to be seasonably warm and pleasant that evening so that folks can sit out on the deck...
I think I'm suffering from SADD. In the middle of July, that's just wrong.
