| Text Messages - Blew my Mind I was reviewing phone upgrades and reading customer reviews when I came across this post.
"I have had this phone about two weeks and I love it, I am a 15 year old kid and I have around 17,000 texts a month and this phone is great for texting."
If this is even possible it blew my mind to say the least.

| Re: Text Messages - Blew my Mind The tweens these days, twentish + teens, will have im conversations instead of talking, and the more ironic part is that these sms conversations can cost more than talking more than a few minutes on the phone while taking three times longer if they are not free.
I don't like them for their 140 character limit, but these tweens will go back, and forth with parts of conversations all the time that might only be a few characters. They don't care as long as they are free with a plan, or somebody else is paying the bill. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. $125 per hour if you called tech support, and didn't fix the issue while making things worse

»Texting Champ Winner This person just won a competition and she [only] sends/receives 14,000 monthly. I doubt your guy sends 17,000. -- I found the key to success but somebody changed the lock.

That only gives him 7-8 hours a day. -- I found the key to success but somebody changed the lock.

1 edit | 14k is good amount of texting for someone that age. i seen upwards of 40k texts before. but 8-15k is pretty normal anymore.
The winner of a competition showed she could text that much in just 2 days. these kids get 30 days to do the same, and school/bedtime doesnt stop them from texting.

| Re: Text Messages - Blew my Mind Yet another reason my kids won't get cell phones except prepaid phones for school trips.
The most I've ever sent/received in a month was around 3000. That was before I started buying smartphones instead of just flip phones. Nowadays it's around 100-300. -- Ali Fazel i2Telecom Representative

| Wow, and I thought my 200-300 a month was extensive... Although I've always been careful since only recently (within past 2 years) have I had a text messaging plan. Before that it was pay as you go and mommy and daddy didn't pay for my cell phone service like a vast majority of people tweens+teens+twenties. I know people who have graduated college and their parents STILL pay their cell phone (and car insurance, and daily living expenses). [/rant] Sorry.
But yes, 17,000 texts a month... thats... pretty impressive. Thats 566/day (more than I send/receive in a MONTH!) 23/hour Thats almost a text message every-other minute... and thats in a 24 hour time period! I assume that kid gets at least SOME sleep. -- The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. CPL:IA;ASEL/AMEL. CFI:ASE/AME; IA
