Didn't work. Need to follow the instructions from above (this cures the problem 100%):

said by kaila See Profile :

In the iphone's Settings->General->Network->Cellular Data Network, change the Visual Voicemail APN from wap.cingular to: acds.voicemail

This will fix the voicemail issue.
I don't have "Cellular Data Network" the Nework menu
All that is there is:
Enable 3G
Data Roaming
Internet Tethering
VPN
Wi-Fi

what did I miss?

How's the battery life? I was one of the lucky to grab NetShare, but it will totally drain the battery dead in about 75 minutes unless plugged into AC. May consider the hack if the life is better.

I guess I should have asked this instead:
Did you do the hack from a Mac or a Windows system?

I did it over USB so the battery doesn't drain.

Even when plugged into USB NetShare will still drain the battery quickly, so I guess the battery drain is significantly less.

I am digging into the carrier settings file trying to fix the VM bug so people don't have to manually change settings. I see there are several items under SupportedSIMs that probably indicate different AT&T sims. I'm wondering if one could edit that list to unlock the phone.

Anyway, if you rename the IPCC file to .zip, you can then double click it to unzip it and get a .bundle file. Open that up and you get to a carrier.plist file. Under apns, #1 is wap.cingular, whereas #3 is acds.voicemail. Fixing the bug may entail switching the two around.

This is a rhetorical question - isn't the USB connection supposed to be charging the iPhone in any case?

My guess was that USB provides lower power than the wall connection, and fullpower wifi+3G drains the power faster than it can charge.

You could be right. The iPhone wall charger (the miniature model) puts out 5V at 1A, whereas I think USB standard is 500mA.

Yeah, I read it. I have tethering turned on but it does not show up in my networks on the iMac.

USB or Bluetooth?

If Bluetooth, make sure you've paired your iPhone with your iMac. Then, from the BT menu, go down to your iPhone, and from the submenu select "Connect to iPhone." Once this is completed, your iPhone should indicate that internet tethering is turned on.

Whether or not you get an IP on the computer side depends on whether or not you're in 3G range or not.
