| Easy iPhone tethering for AT&T users
»macmegasite.com/node/7173
I don't know if you'll get charged extra or not so use at your own risk. I don't have tethering officially enabled on my Rogers account and just used the defaults command, synced my iPhone and tethering works. |

| I can verify that the setup and the tethering connection works.
The only thing is that I don't live in a neighborhood that has good 3G reception and it seems you need to have a 3G signal for it to work. As it stands, through Bluetooth, both the computer and the iPhone will acknowledge the connection.
Can't wait to try this out somewhere with 3G. I'm only going to use it cautiously - don't want to get hit with AT&T's BS data charges. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. User known formerly as zakooldude. |

| I usually run in the high 800s when I am running the DSLR speed test for 3G. About 3Mbit on wifi - I suspect that's a limitation of the processing speed of the phone.
I will definitely be eager to try this out. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. User known formerly as zakooldude. |

| reply to DavisPhotog FYI, all I had to do was install the updated .ipcc file, enable tethering on my iPhone and it worked. If any Windows users stumble across this thread, you need to open a command-prompt (in Administrator mode on Vista/7), navigate to the iTunes installation directory and issue the following command with iTunes closed:
itunes.exe /setprefint carrier-testing 1

1 edit | You copied and pasted that question from the posted thread (ok, one grammatical improvement). I don't necessarily think it's relevant, as others have been able to connect without this information. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. | How would we know? The only reason AT&T is holding off on letting us US customers officially have it is because they're trying to figure out a pricing scheme (and I should emphasize "scheme") for the product. That, and they are absolutely terrified we're going to destroy their network with such easy access through iPhones.
Is there a way to really check your data usage on an unlimited plan? My account won't let me log in right now for some reason. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. User known formerly as zakooldude. |

| reply to yabos There might be a little confusion with the other link (»www.erodov.com/forums/mms-tether···ge4.html) over MMS. I don't think the OP's top post link enables MMS, only tethering, and no MMSC & proxy settings are required.
It's certainly the case for me- tethering works, but no mms with the camera icon in the message app UI. Correct me if someone has it working. -- Jeff Howe Jeff's Blog - »www.jeffhowe.net/Jeffhowe.net/Blog/Blog.html |
