Another alternative for you is magicjack. I've had for about a year. Couple of minor issues but overall, works, crystal clear, has vm, callerid and LD to Canada/Mexico is included. Also works with my fax machine.
$20/year. No taxes. All you need is a usb port.
I dropped my phone and added my verizon cell phone which they took. No problem.
Also I was with Sprint for 8 years. Switched to Verizon first of last year. MUCH better coverage.
Just an idea for you. Sure has worked for me. |

I am paying $15.30 a month for VOIP with Teleblend (used to be Sunrocket), service since 2004. Lots of people bad mouth them, but for me it has always worked great.
If you pay a year up front it is $169.
FiOS internet works great & I make & receive calls, what else can I ask for. |

Ok, so you have the vonage router connected to the actiontec router?
- yea right now we only have one line so we don't need VOIP service, we're paying some 20 bucks a month for phone service.
We are currently getting a 3 for 2 bundle discount. total price 132 dollars / month includes 2 extra international channels (10 bucks each) + DVR (15 some dollars) 20/5 internet + some features on the main phone line.
if we take out the phone we wouldn't be getting that discount. |

Been using VONAGE since I got the FiOS. about $30 less per line per month. Once I junked the Actiontek router and put the VONAGE box as the router, which then feeds the house network switch thus the Actiontek only talks to the STBs. Excellent service, and their box solves the QoS problem. Highly recommended.

One thing I forgot to point out which is very important: They don't provide 911 service. You should definitely have a cell phone or some other method to contact 911 for an emergency! Thanks for the clarification. I guess for $2.99 I can try Onesutie services without too much risk...well a $2.99 can buy me a nice mini subway sandwich. Unlimited voip can be had for $10-$15 a month and gives you even more features (viatalk for example gives you an extra line free of charge since it uses the same number).
Since I just want to keep my home phone number active I only pay my $3 for incoming. I save about $32 using voip over the Fios triple play. |

Reasons why some prefer VOIP? I'll take a stab:
-save a lot of $
-similar quality of service (especially with a UPS)
-more features (e.g., ability to make two calls simultaneously on two separate phones using one phone number)
-can bring your device when you travel to make calls with ethernet access
-no need to ever port your VOIP number when you move (if you stay with that VOIP provider)
-ability to add an additional phone number in different area codes (although this might not be a huge benefit with services like google voice)
I've had VOIP for about 6 yrs - it was only a bother when I had sunrocket and they went out of business two years ago. I currently pay $20/mo with vonage, but I am in the process of switching to ooma ($200 up front, no additional costs). |

verizon fios, at least here, comes bundled with phone service. Additional 15 bucks for 500 minutes/month of international calling to areas outside north america |

Recently started with ViaTalk. $199 for two years unlimited. Did BYOD so no other start up/activation fees. Once I forwarded the correct ports on the VZ Actiontec for my old Sunrocket gizmo the quality has been good. |

I'm a happy Vonage user since 2005, and a FiOS user since 2006. Vonage is quite happy with FiOS. VoIP likes [relatively] hi bandwidth and low latency. |

I've used vonage for 3 years Fax and phone works excellently. Its tax's and fess have reiisne steadily but I have a fax line and phone for about 38 a month |

Like what the support page says...Onesuite will only provide support to Onesuite softphone or labeled equipments if theres any. I think Onesuite is compatible with most softphones out there and also with ATA devices. Just don't expect some help though from Onesuite support. |
