mine is at 65,000 right now.

Both laptops are running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Do both report excellent signal strength? Have you tried different channels? Are you using encryption? What type? What do the adapter statistics look like - are you getting re-transmits, for example?

Where I'm headed, in case it wasn't obvious, is that blindly swapping out the router without doing a little troubleshooting to determine the root cause isn't likely to get you very far (although I'm sure the company who makes the new router would appreciate it).
