said by matcarl :Oh well, if it doesn't get fixed by the new format, then I'm not watching it. He doesn't care, Verizon doesn't care, then neither do I. Shameful. I think you're over reacting. It's really not that bad. Not ideal, but certainly not unwatchable. I can deal with it. |

| reply to matcarl this is probably the worst quality of all the new york local channels. audio goes out frequently. almost as bad as WRNN.
said by matcarl :I spoke to the chief engineer again at WSAH. He still says Verizon knows of the audio problem. He said it's out of phase. This guy doesn't seem to care or seem very concerned. He's also the general manager. If I was the GM & chief engineer of a TV station and something was wrong with the audio, I'd make sure it was fixed ASAP and apologize to anyone who calls. This guy's attitude sucks. Oh well, if it doesn't get fixed by the new format, then I'm not watching it. He doesn't care, Verizon doesn't care, then neither do I. Shameful. |

1 edit | You called a private, unlisted number, given to you in good faith by my assistant, who thought it was a bona-fide business call and who has been instructed to no longer give out that number outside the company.
It never occurred to you, that this is your 8th or 9th call on this matter, I am aware of it and working toward getting it fixed. Also, I may have been working on many other things in order to bring you your FREE RTN programming.
The signal looks and sounds fine on Direct, Dish, Comcast Naugatuck Valley (CT), Cox Meriden (CT) and off air, all of which I have subscriptions or courtesy accounts. It looks fine at my boss's house in Jersey.
I cannot complain to FiOS on your behalf, nor can I do any more than I have, I cannot see the problem. Customer service in every company is trained to say "its coming to us that way" to get you off the phone as fast as possible with little or no work. |

Customer service in every company is trained to say "its coming to us that way" to get you off the phone as fast as possible with little or no work. Ron, I asked for you and was given that number to call, no one told me it was private. Besides, letting an engineer know about a transmitting problem with their station is a bonafide business call, don't you agree? It also was only the "second" time I spoke to you, (6/8 & 6/18), not the 8th or 9th, unless others have called. I called that second time to update you on what I was told by Verizon. It may look good on the other providers like you say, but I have Verizon and you know there is a problem with it. How could you say you've done all you can and you can't complain to them? You told me the audio is out of phase, then in your post you say, "I cannot see the problem." That doesn't make sense. Your signal is not being transmitted properly to them, it's up to you and them to fix it. You're the engineer. How could you leave it like that? Don't you take pride in your work and your station? Why are other providers having no problem? It seems others on this board are more concerned than you or Verizon, and I think that is wrong. |

| reply to icemannyr1 Well I checked WSAH last night and the audio is back to being inaudible and low. I checked it again this morning and it's still the same. Somebody's messing up big time here. It's either WSAH or Verizon. I'll report this update to Gustavo in the Verizon Direct forum. |

| reply to icemannyr1 Gustavo from the Verizon Direct forum recently replied to me about the audio problems on WSAH (channel 19) and he told me that yes there was low audio on that channel but it is coming from the station and that there is nothing that Verizon can do to alter the audio. He also told me that the audio would sound better on HD STBs and DVRs compared to SD STBs and DVRs. Right now, the sound is audible on my HD DVR but is barely audible on my 2 SD STBs and my digital adapter.
As for RTN on WSAH, all I see are infomercials as well. |

1 edit | The audio sounds crappy no matter what box. It has nothing to do with Verizon's boxes. No one seems to want to fix the problem. I guess WSAH ran into a problem with the RTN feed, figures. The station can't get their audio fixed, why would we expect them to get a whole new format right? They should be off the air! |

@dhs.gov | Spoke to someone at WSAH, 203-881-1153, and was told RTN programming will begin at 6PM, but will ONLY be 6 hours per day, from 6PM to midnight. Rest will be the same paid programming they have now. Oh well, 6 hours is better than nothing. |

| Message from Gustavo on the audio issue
"Thank you for the update. We are able to detect the issue as well. The problem is that this is a provider issue, there is nothing we can do to alter the audio source or correct the issue. All parties are aware of this problem but there is currently no ETR available." |
