| What to do about this internet service monopoly
I started as IT at a business in October. The internet is controlled by the local ISP.
TO put it bluntly; they suck. The speeds are SLOW and the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. Customer service is awful as well.
We just put an order in for 2Mbps connection (their max) for $99 a month. Thats ridiculous. Furthermore, their monopoly runs about 10 or so square miles.
Upon further investigation, the company is grandfathered in as the ONLY provider allowed in this area.
I have already wrote to my congressman and other ISP's, etc. What more can I do? Antitrust lawsuit? |

You can always get satellite, dial up or a cellular modem. |

You could see if you could get a few DSL lines (2-3 at around 1Mbps each will probably be the same price though) |
