Still a work in progress, but hopefully I'll have it done in a day or two.

I picked up an OLD Crystal 13" KMM for $10 on eBay. It was sold "as-is" with no testing, but the price was right and it was local, so no shipping necessary. The pullout mechanism worked as well as the combo keyboard/trackball but there was no power supply for the monitor. After some quick measurements, I determined that I could stuff a spare 17" Viewsonic in it...

So far so good; after a couple of hours with an angle grinder, cutoff wheel and flap-disc, I had decent opening to fit the Viewsonic. Next came a couple of coats of grey primer. Should be ready for light sanding and top coat tomorrow (I'm going to use either rough texture paint or hammer finish).

I don't have an exact plan for the hinges, but I have a couple ideas and I'll post more pics when I have some progress to report.

Thanks, GREMBLING22!

Here are a few pics of today's progress. I think I'll be able to finish the paint tomorrow...

I'm using Rustoleum Multi-Color Texture Paint, "Aged Iron" flavor...it seemed appropriate since this, in computer terms, is definatly some OLD IRON. I REALLY like the texture paint, but it's easy to lay it down too thick and you've gotta' be sure to maintain adequate distance from the workpiece and use smooth, even-paced strokes. Any unevenness shows up.

That looks really good. Before I bought my Dell KVM i was looking at building something similar. Seriously man good work!

Dam you beat me to it. I was going to do something similar for my rack. I didn't want to cut my slide table though.

BTW this looks really good. I will keep watching this thread for some good progress.
