Re: New firmware out for Actiontec MI424WR (Rev E, Gen 2)!

I don't know when or how it happened, but my firmware is showing 20.9.0.

It would be interesting to know what changed.

I was on the phone with Verizon Technical Support to get my WAN Port re-enabled and had to do a Hard reset of my Actiontec Router (Rev E 20.8.0). When it came back online I noticed that it had been upgraded to 20.9.0. I'm not certain if Verizon sent the update out or if it happened as part of the hard reset.

I know, the data sheet on their web site indicates GigE LAN ports, so I bought a Rev2 on Ebay, (I needed a second one anyway), but alas, no GigE! I think 802.11n is fiction as well.
And you would be right about the 802.11n, at least as far as the VZ version of the router is concerned.

Had you done a search here, you would have found the following post:

The online datasheet from Rev e suggests that the router is futureproof for gigabit lan and wireless n. What does that mean? Can it be enabled with firmware or something?

What that means is that it available from the manufacturer as an extra cost option. There are a number of available options that VZ did not select:
•Wireless N
•Gig-E LAN ports
•USB port
•White sidewalls

I believe that when the 20.9.0 Firmware first came out there was a link to it on the current firmware pdf file on the Actiontec site:

»support.actiontec.com/doc_files/···ions.pdf

At the time I did not install it because I could not find a change log and everything was working fine for me. I have not seen anyone indicating major changes with he new firmware and as you found the link has been pulled from the Actiontec site and the Verizon site does not have anything for the Rev E.

I checked and could not find a copy of it in my download folder.

Where did you find firmware release 20.9.0? I just got my router two days ago and it came with 20.8.0. When I do a "Check for Updates", it tells me that "Upgrade file not found". Here is the upgrade URL that my Actiontec is set to:

Thanks

any update on nat problem?
Zero change, loading up Steam Server Browser still froze the router (made it run out of memory) after ~12k servers.

prod_version: 4.7.5.3.25

ext_ver: 20.9.0

rg_hw: MI424WR

vendor: VERIZON
prod_version: 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.11.6

Probably why the firware upgrade page on my Rev. C has the following status:
"Status: The firmware upgrade file is not supported on this hardware version"

The stock firmware is v20.8.0. Remember, this is the GEN2 router, not the GEN1.

This router here.

Just did "check for updates" today, and it found one!

No changelog anywhere though :P It'd be interesting to see what they changed.
