When it isn't loading, try pinging the router 192.168.1.1 and see if it's being flaky. Also, try clearning your browser cache and/or rebooting. Also... When it's hanging, can you open another browser page out anywhere on the net at the same time? |

| Sorry for having kept you so long.....maybe we should call it a night.... .
I pinged the router by typing in CMD window ping 192.168.1.1 and the results were
Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time1ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time1ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time1ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time1ms TTL=255
Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
From the results it looks good...right Though one thing i did....while i was pinging via CMD, i tried again to open the router webpage via webrowser...while the ping results were as above mentioned the page didnt open in the webrowser.... I can open other pages on the net
Just as an after thought.....this used to happen (cant be 100percent that this is the reason), but this is used to happen whenevr i tried changing some settings in the router....as i ahve tried before to disable the DMZ as well as DHCP and that time either the web pages would not load or the modem paged would not open . I know that the web pages dont load bcos of DNS server....but usually something like this is to happen after cahnging the DMZ or DHCP...so than i would try and chang back to enable DMZ enable DHCP and after some time things would get normalized...
See i know that logically what i m sayg (about the DMZ and DHCP) doesnt have any relation with the loading of modem page...just the scenario looks familiar to what i experienced before. Anyhow will try to clean cache of webrowser(i did it before)...will reboot modem again.....we should call it a night...right?? |

Your router doesn't do loopback. quote: Note 3: Please be aware that from inside your LAN you will not be able to access your server using its public IP address or name. On your LAN you will need to use its local IP address instead (10.1.1.99).

Care to test this from home while we call it a night? |

Banging my head because I wish I thought of that knowing it's an older/lower end router (not your fault, just what ISPs give out) while busy thinking it was caused by everything else. Dumb stuff.
The example they showed basically said port forwarding isn't going to work using the WAN IP (69.96.3.123:54120), only using the LAN IP (192.168.1.2:54120) when inside your own network. So you'll want to test RDP-WAN from somewhere else using the WAN IP (and also dyndynsname) with port, meaning 69.96.3.123:54120 from anywhere but INSIDE your network there. Make sense? |

1 edit | Yes it does.....for some silly reason i always had a doubt of this....u can say a sixth sense(like).....not thru concrete knowlege like urself, but some feeling (though i didnt know about the loopback in lay man's term i felt i wouldn't be able to access from within the LAN using a WANIP another computer on the LAN)..only was hoping somebody could prove my "feeling" about the router wrong....but i was just going thru this....please tell me if there is something which can be done in my case....as here they are talking about accessing website via webrowser by changing the host file in system32 folder

anyhow, Hey, try that trick! Might work. Never mind. Duh. Just thought it through.. Won't work (will infact block it actually), not for what you want. Only if you have a webserver running on the machine you are using.. Not accessing a webpage in the router from your machine... Ok, now I KNOW I have to quit for tonight... based on that |

1 edit | reply to JamesLevinworth Hi Facing the same problem with loading of router settings page
Also wanted to bring out a point here...before i started this post....i tried a program called Teamviewer (remote access).... with this program i was able to access from CLIENT--> SERVER and from SERVER-->CLIENT.....this was via internet.....had to install the Teamviewer program on both PC for that.....dont know, maybe here there is no loopback being used? Teamviewer generates some kind of ID and password...or if one is using Teamviewer as a windows system program one can fix the username and password...but in any case there is Ips to configure no port forwarding in router...maybe that's the reason why there is no loopback issue as it uses the Teamviewer server for remote access.
LogMeIN Account Free (1.)Similarly was able to create a free LogMeIn account through which i was able to setup Client in this LogMeIn account.. (2.)Than going to the SERVER was able to setup the SERVER also on the LogMein account... (3.)Than going back to CLIENT and on opening the LogMeIn account was able to remote access(get the remote desktop of ) SERVER on Client via webrowser.
So my point is are Teamviewer and LogMeIn not using loopback...is it that in both these cases ....m i using their webservers...and that's why there is no loopback here. |
