most cable companies will not allow server on the residential accounts.
Cablevision/OOL seems to be the exception. They offer the Boost tier which allows servers.

But why would I want to run a server at home, when I can get it colocated or get a hosting account where they have oodles of bandwidth, cooling, redundant power, fire protection and 24x7 staff.

Right now I'm using Comcast Home, and paying about $45 a month. The problem is, I'm running a server and that's agaist their TOS. Apparently they want you to pay $15 a month more for Business class to run a server. Are there any ISP's out there that will allow servers for lest than the Comcast Business class? My server uses around 300MB of bandwidth, so it's not a hog. I've heard about Speakeasy, but their internet is not available in my area.
