| [HN7000S] New Software Release
Had a reset last night. New software:
Software Date: Mar 5 2009, 18:44:43 Software Release: 5.8.0.49
Wonder what changes this will have in performance. The diagnostics page looks a little different. Time will tell. -- G26(93W)/1247H-H/SOHO/.98 2Wt/Gateway 66.82.159.144 |

| No change here yet...still on 5.6.1.35. After our last update, we saw some glitches and bumps for a few weeks and then things seemed to stabilize and improve a little over performance pre-reset. Let's see what this one brings.... -- 74West/1250Mhz/Proplan/.76m dish/HNS7000S/LinksysWRT54G/WindowsXPsp3 |

For hnFAPmon users, the modem def line for this release is:
'5.8.0.49' => '/cgi/execAdvCom.bin?Command=75', |

| reply to wa5sox1 Prior to this update, I always had an Inroute Group of 11. Now I have two, 31 and 41. It sort of toggles back and forth. .. As well, I am noting an enormous amount of failed transmissions. I just ran HughesNet's speedtest three times after clearing stats and had 374 failed transmissions. .. Before this "change", my failed transmission rate was always in the neighborhood of 0.01% or better. Now it's running at near 1% at times. .. Anyone noticing anything similar? -- G26(93W)/1247H-H/SOHO/.98 2Wt/Gateway 66.82.159.144 |

2 edits | reply to jagraff Well, lots of changes over the past 10 days. First, the Inroute Group change to 31 and 41 (from 11), then two nights later the new software. Everyone keep an eye on your Inroute Group to see if it changes with the new software, or a day or two prior.
Thus far, I'm not a happy camper with the change. Transmit errors wayyyy up from the 0.01% I used to have. Sometimes, in diagnostics in the five minute windows, it says 6% loss. The loss seems to come in "bursts" .. sometimes browsing with no loss, then out of the blue 300 or more failed transmissions.
Another change I noted a few weeks back is the Firewall, in the System Info said "Enabled", but clicking on Firewall revealed it as "Disabled". Now it says:
General Config Bad fragment check: Enabled Ifc Validation Check: DISABLED Management IP Address: 10.XXX.XX.XX Under Policy Stats:
ACL Statistics -------------- ACL is Enabled from the NOC Side Total num of valid rules: 2 Total num Packets Received: 2859329 Total num Packets Dropped: 0
So, I'm hoping they "fine tune" things, as browsing is sometimes Very sluggish, and I am getting "Marginals" and "Bads" where I always had "Good" in Diagnostics. Don't think it's anything on my end, as all these changes seem to correlate with the time I started receiving so many Nak'd transmissions. (Edit): Timing applications are suffering. And, when doing online transactions, I sometimes encounter difficulty. At this time, until things improve, I'm afraid to do any business online.
Here's my stats, and they ain't pretty. The loss percentage is just the average. As stated, the five minute windows have shown as much as 6% loss. ____________________________________________________

| reply to wa5sox1 Repeating what Tobicat said...Now that I think about it, it was the forced ranging that cleared up things for us on the last update.

| reply to wa5sox1 Yesterday evening my HN7000S was displaying heavy download activity. I turned off all the computers and finally turned off the router and the activity did not diminish. I checked useage this morning and it was about 205mb in that timeslot. Was this the update? And why wasn't I fapped? |

| The only thing answerable in your questions is that it was not the firmware update. That is relatively small, and doesn't show in usage.
A huge Vista SP2 at 345MB has been hitting a lot of people, but of course that would stop when you turned off your router, and definitely would FAP you if allowed to run. -- W2K Server|Toshiba Satellite XP Pro|iDirect 3100 on Datastorm 1.2 meter XF3 with 4-watt BUC|HughesNet G28/1070/7000s Pro on 2-watt Datastorm G74|Sprint Air Card|1990 Blue Bird Wanderlodge Bus "Blue Thunder"|Author of PC-OPI and DSSatTool |

| reply to wa5sox1 Hubby was complaining about some computer issues when I came home from work. I told him that by his description, the internet wasn't working. Sure enough, he must have been getting the upgrade while trying to surf, cuz we have it too! Now to see what it "improved". |
