ct3, thanks for the info. there have been sightings of a lot of suddenlink trucks doing some kind of work on their lines here around the charleston/kanawha city area. that was about a month ago.

yes, a lot of companies are starting to roll out docsis 3 and bring out "more like broadband" speeds.

who is your ISP?

I think there is only 1 maybe two ISPs actually launching DOCSIS 3
Not really. A lot of them are. My cable company (Service Electric) has it and I have a D3 modem.

Its supposed to be all in the head end, but reality dictates that the new system is way more sensitive to noise than the older docsis 1.1/2.0 systems were so they will be out working on their lines immediately after they deploy the EQ trying to hunt down all sorts of noise sources from bad drops and eq at customer's houses to improperly tuned amps and damaged plant. Give them 2 months to get the troubles worked out and do yourself a favor and have your house rewired for coax.

suddenlink would be my isp, but i don't have them. i have been using verizon dsl for 7-8 years now. i'm just interested in what to look for when the upgrade is going on? will they be working on their lines or is everything just upgraded in the headend?

i may be switching if they upgrade to docsis 3 and if they can't get their equipment straightned out where it is rock solid like verizon has been.

i just want to have faster speeds. it doesn't appear our area will have fttp anytime soon as verizon might be bought by frontier here. its not offical though. it has to go through the psc first.

So, what goes on and what do we look for when a docsis 3 upgrade is going on? Pics would be awsome too if anyone has them. Thanks!
