You guys were great in answering my flying mount question. Now I have a question, as a lvl 77 surv hunter, I have 200+ hit rating, 2300+ap and 27+% crit. My agility is 800+ with pots(I am Alchemy, which is the best buy the way). I see i do 390 DPS when looking at my char screen and a see 2000+ come off mobs when fighting. Am i doing this right or barking up the wrong tree. Cannot link at work but name is same in armory |

Im no help either, but i know it is AP for one spec and AGI for other. No clue about haste and ARpen for hunters though. |

As SV, use this rotation:
KS > ES > BA > Aimed/Multi > SrS > Steady
Use CD's together to maximize effectiveness. Use a Wolf as a pet.
I'd have to see your armory page to give more detail.

4 edits | Tuladran dont worry about ur stats at level 77, just spec Beast mastery and level to 80 and then worry about ur stats
Why you using pots at 77? rading Sunwell or somthing I didnt use pots until I started raiding
as for pets use a Bear in my opinion the best PvE pet - Thunderstomp and Swipe holds agro like a champs and takes a beating |

As a SV hunter, you will prioritize shots. If you have BA up the ES has a better chance of no CD so three shots in a row, I use BA - KS - ES - SrS - AS/MS - SS as a priority shots, you need to watch what is off cooldown and use the highest priority KS,BA,ES,AS, and then SS and SrS when needed. Also get hit maxed, and then Agility then AP, if you can't hit you won't be be maxing your DPS. Work on it as you get to 80, that is where you will start to do some real DPS.

Think of that as more priority instead of a "rotation." A shot rotation is all about prioritizing and timing your shots to maximize your DPS, so may not always have an exact rotation you stick hard to.
If the mob is over 20% HP then obviously KS is not an option and so your priority (or rotation) would be:
ES > BA > Aimed/Multi > SrS > Steady |

| A marks in our guild does very good DPS his gear is a little better then me, and I think he gains on me in AOE situations and the ones where we are moving alot, I like to Stand and fire  , on Patch I think I beat him on DPS and I am very close to him in overall damage and DPS for the nights run. I was going to play around with Marks as my second spec, but had to go BM to get rid on one of my pets from the stable, so I will need to respec when I get a chance. Let me know if you find a spec that works well |

I've read some speculation that MM could outpace SV in DPS as gear scales, but no numbers to back that up. |

Before rolling DK my main was a SV Hunter and was SV all thru TBC
i jump on him from time to time just to work on his JC and what not but havnt started to really leveling him yet
so not sure what ur question is excatly but if its a gear check on your stats so far than they honestly are low for raids and Heroics ( which beeing 77 probly not an issue yet) my hunter is sitting @ 72 and i havnt replaced any gear yet from wotlk and my stats are a little bit better than that but your on the right track, keep stacking agl and crit for SV
if ur question is about why you DPS shows 390 but your hitting mobs for 2k than understand that the 390 is the average amount of damage per second your going to do with white damage ( basicly if u sit there and was on atuo-attack with no special shots ) it also is bad judge of damage due to it doesnt include multipliers that happen after the shot ( crit's, buff's, and proc's ) if u want a true DPS than get recount from curse.com it will show what your dps was after a fight and you can see truly what your dps was or is
for raids now a days i see alot of groups wanting more than 3k in dps
dont be too worried about your stats thou u still have 3 levels to go, really u only need enough damage at this point to kill the mobs for your quest - dont go re-gemming or buying gear at this point because it will all be replaced the moment u hit 80 and step into some Heroics/raids/ or level 80 reg dungeons

The OP is asking how if he sees him crit for 2k+ how he is only pulling 300DPS...
The way DPS is calculated it is takes your total damage done during a fight and divides it by the number of seconds.
So its..
Total / Time (in sec) = DPS
So even though you may get a huge hit, it may only boost the actual DPS number by 100, depending on how long the fight is.
A good addon that monitors DPS is Recount.
