i still cannot get newsleecher to work with ipv6.
does anyone know of a webbased reader like nab that can do repair, extract, par and monitor? and of course works with ipv6?
I really like alt.binz, which does all of the above except directly suporting IPv6 addresses. ( »www.altbinz.net/ )

You can get newsleecher, or alt.binz, or any other regular newsreader to work with IPv6 servers, by simply using Windows's own port proxy command.

A good detailed message in this thread, with detailed commands and explanation : »Re: TSI Usenet vs. Paid Usenet (it's on page 10 of current thread)

Good luck!

edit : typo fix, add alt.binz url

Hmmm...

Something's not right, when I was using them, before getting and maxing out at about 400-500 KBs

You should definitely pulling in more than the TSI service maxed at 1 MB.

Are you on HE or Freenet/Gateway6 ?

I much prefer HE. It doesn't require a client. The tunnel is "always up". Their POP is closer and better latency. Their IPv6 network is considerably better than Go6's transit provider TATA Comm. Also the tunnelbroker service is treated more or less like a production service. I can call into HE's NOC if anything happens. Applications permitting I run everything with v6. All of my systems are connected with v6.

Today I am also seeing slower speeds than usual, with Gateway6 client, server being Eweka.nl.

Speeds do float a bit, on good days it maxes my connection easily. Not sure if people using HE server would see the same or not.

I like the simplicity of the Tunnelbroker service (HE tunnels) but not the complications with firewall and dynamic ip that require updating their tunnel config, etc.

For someone with a fixed IP, HE would be easier. For dynamic ip folks, I find Gateway6 works easier and well, most of the time.

Regarding the HE tunnels being 'trasparent' as infamouskid mentioned, they require a clean link, pingable from the server end directly to your machine.

If you can achieve that (firewal, router configuration need fixing), you can also run similar connection modes on both Gateway6 client ("IPv6-in-IPv4 Tunnel, Native mode") and in SixXs's aiccu clients.

SixX has no gateways in Canada, closest one I used was in Texas. HE has a server in Toronto, really close to Teksavvy's point of presence, indeed an advantage.

Gateway6 client traffic goes to Montreal, and from there into IPv6 space.

i found the HE service to be a bit faster than gateway6 but for me it is better to use gateway6 because i have a dynamic ip....

I was never able to get connectivity with the HE either on my Cogeco or TekSavvy connections.

The Go6 tunnel worked right away.

Now, I'll fully admit that I probably messed something up trying to get the HE configured - Go6 is easier as it does all the work

As for speed, none of them max my TS connection, but on Cogeco I was pulling 1.8 from XSNews before it went down.

Right now I can't get Eweka or XSNews (as of 8PM EST 10/08/09).

Not sure why, but I do occasionally have to re-run the bat files for the netsh.

Anyone know why exactly?

Well, xsnews is kinda down.. »www.xsnews.com/ipv6/ look at the graph...

For eweka it work perfectly with a HE tunnel, I'm running eweka with TSI 1mbps right now and my line is fully saturated

Definitely an issue with your configuration. I bet you were trying to setup the tunnel to a PC behind some cheap router.

I don't know what the setup is like for Go6 but HE's tunnelbroker POPs are connected via GigE links to the tunnelbroker POP servers and some are being upgraded to 10GigE. There are no limitations on throughput.

I have no problem pushing/pulling 20Mbps+ through a tunnel to other well connected systems.

Were you running with multiple connections to the news server? To max out any relatively high speed connection you'll need multiple connections to the server.

Eweka is up and working now.

hi guys,
for those using he tunnel, no need to delete your tunnel each time your ip change,
what you do, you log in he website, select your tunnel, then select your ip
enter your new ip then submit that's it

Same here, was out yesterday, still out today.

GOOD NEWS though -- XSnews server is currently up and running, they are the best of the group imo.

infamouskid, I can see your point. This week has been really bad for the ipv6 services. Had been running it for a couple months, mostly without any hiccups. These last few days were bad.

Cheers for XSnews though.

I'm trying to figure out the 1 Mbit limit but I can't!

I'm downloading at 250 kb/sec right now which is around 2 Mbit. I'm connected via 5 threads.
Is there a thread limit? Am I doing something wrong? lol

Lewism8, enjoy.

The TSI newsserver (actual Usenetserver.com, them being the real providers) sometimes get confused and gives you more than you are supposed to get. Had this experience myself way back when I started with TSI usenet.

If you keep the session going (no disconnection, no modem hiccups), you might enjoy that double speed thrill for a bit.

Is anyone having luck this weekend with gateway6 and sabnzbd+? I seem to be logging in okay to gateway6 but I can't connect to any of xsnews, eweka or newszilla. I was able to connect and download okay Thursday night but I haven't been able to connect Friday, Saturday or today. I am wondering if it is just me because I see noone else complaining. Thanks.
