I see your problem. You need to change the LAN or VPN subnet. They are both 192.168.1.x.

Sorry, I could have been much more clear: the router's VPN settings will not ALLOW me to change the "Remote IP range" from 192.168.1.x.

Is there something that I can try from the client side?

You have to change the entire subnet of the VPN router. You probably need to do this on the setup tab or something? You either need to change the entire remote subnet from 192.168.1.x or you need your change your client subnet from 192.168.1.x.

On a D-Link I have, you can do this on Setup -> Network Settings -> Router IP Address
