Re: Updated: My Server setip

I believe it is an HP Netserver LH3, It has 2 GB RAM and two 500 GB SCSI drives, And I believe the processor is dual PIII's, not sure on the speed tho. That server is my SQL server, Apache Tomcat backend, and it runs a Counter Strike server.

I took some time to make the wire's a little more neat, i couldent get to much of the marker of of the stuff, but I don't really mind it.
Awesome, looks much better. If you grow tired of the marker look try a graffiti remover product (do a small test first, some products are not plastic safe).

Which HP NetServer is that (2 rack on the left, bottom)?

Ok so I took into mind some of the things everyone has commented about, I took some time to make the wire's a little more neat, i couldent get to much of the marker of of the stuff, but I don't really mind it. I also go the splice cases onto the backboard.

What version of mac do you run on that box? I was wondering because I figured it would be underpowered for leopard and might be under powered for tiger.

Wow I got rid of like 6 ML370's and put everything on two DL380's. The 370's are soo big and useless.

Is that Juniper gear in the second shot? Is this all your equip or are you just colocating with that sweet fiber connection1?!
I see loads of antiquated Cabletron gear, what looks like three older Cisco devices and, oddly enough, a Brocade Silkworm switch.

Paul as always good to see all the stuff you score, but seriously man you need to clean up that website! So many spelling issues. Not very professional. And yes some cable management is in order

Let see.. where do I start?

I see 5 racks, containing about 2 racks worth of useful/semi useful stuff, depending on how much you want to spend heating the basement with obsolete boatanchors, and about 2 racks worth of e-waste.

I see a lot of tagging with a sharpie, which looks like a gang of taggers was let loose in your basement.. It looks "ghetto", rather than "professional" . my advice, get a can of goof-off, and a box of rags, and clean it up. buy a p-touch, and label it right.. even post-it's or strips of paper and scotch tape would look better.

I see big loops of outside fiber in dire need of cable management.. get that splice case out of the middle of your backboard, and off to the side where it belongs, assuming you even need it, I'm betting that a fiber patchbay would be more appropriate.. mount the other one next to it, if you still need it, and properly dress the fiber.

I'd also clean up the racks, and bolt the three blue ones together as a unit. Get some shelves for the pc's instead of the stack-in-a-rack, so you can get to them without having to topple the entire stack.

Send the e-waste to recycling.. most of the cabletron stuff in the blue racks is so obsolete that the only thing it is good for is scrap value. I don't know about the units in the white rack.

Almost none of that gear is connected to a power source. Might want to repurpose the space, perhapse a family game room is in order.

holy power consumption batman.
Why don't you sell some of that old gear and buy a nice beefy box and run vmware or xen? I think you'd get improved performance actually.

I see you have a mac there, you can't really virtualize OS X, but if you're running windows and linux mostly you can build a pretty kick ass box for your host and run plenty of vm's on it.
