I had THOUGHT that with Earthlink I'd be on their backbone, but from a tracert it looks like RR. Is there ANY difference? If there's no difference as it appears, why is my IP a Mindspring address? Seems pointless.
(might be good for FAQ - I couldn't find anything with the differences) |

Forest Hills, NY | The local network (first few hops) is RR, but I thought once you get beyond that, i.e. the Level 3 trunk connections, I was under the impression you are then on Earthlink's side. I could be totally wrong about that though. |

In NYC the routing is exactly the same using EL or RR, except for the first few hops. |
