Ok won't pay for content but will pay PB so they can steal it? WTF?
$6.80 wouldn't even buy you a used CD.

It would off Amazon's MP3 downloads. Depending on the sale, one might even be able to get a couple of CD collections of MP3s.

I dunno - never seen any music or video for less than $7 on Amazon that I wanted.

Seen lots of old, old albums that I'm interested in that they want $20 or $30 for, though...

As always, YMMV, but in my case I picked up a classic Van Halen CD, Cars, Boston, and others in the form of MP3 downloads (all 256kbps bitrates) for between $1 and $3 per collection just by watching Amazon's daily deals page.

That reads to me like physical LPs? Naturally the older, out of print LPs would command a higher price.

Speaking of LPs, I used to run a smalltime DJ service back in the later years of high school, circa 1981 thru 1983. After I disbanded I sold several crates of albums back to used record stores for pennies on the dollar. Oh, if I had that collection today. Damn...

I could see myself going for some Cars maybe, but I'm always wising I could get lossless versions instead of MP3. Just the nerd in me. But most stuff I'm interested in usually ends up being jazz or classical and some kind of out of print or imported recording, and those are mo' $$$ than just five or ten bucks.

On Amazon, you can almost always find used CD's from reputable vendors with thousands of positive ratings that sell for less than $5 with $3 shipping. I do this all of the time with hard to find music. Then you can easily rip the CD into any lossless format that you like and toss the CD in the trash.

Most of the Cars music collection is going for very cheap rates. Just about all of it could be shipped to your door for about $7, if you have the patience to wait for the delivery and don't mind getting a used CD.

Ya but then you are pirating by ripping the CD. You just can't win, so might as well get whatever you want for free.

For now, according to US copyright laws, it is still considered legal to convert CD's to a digital format, provided it is only for personal use.

yeah, but for $6.80 a month, you could easily download hundreds if not thousands of dollars of content.

Irrelevant and a non sequitur. JazzJRabit stated one could not buy a used CD for $6.80 and my response countered that point. It had nothing to do with comparing Amazon to Pirate Bay's price-to-quantity ratio.
