Linksys WRV200 & PPTP VPN, GRE is blocked?

Hey guys, love the community Ive been lurking for years. Great place to find quick info!

I'm having trouble with a WRV200 and PPTP VPN from a Windows 2k3 Server R2 box. I'm using the built in VPN Server in RRAS. Apparently it seems that the router is filtering out GRE even though Ive enabled PPTP passthrough. I've tested the connection within the network and it connects properly. Ive played around with DMZ/Port Forwarding and nothing seems to give.

The weirdest part was when I first configured the VPN connection and connected from outside the network. The connection worked and I was browsing some file shares and then a few minutes later the connection died and I haven't been able to reconnect since!

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. If there's any info I left out let me know and I'll reply very quickly.

Thanks!

If it worked once and then not again I would guess that the ALG (application-level-gateway) responsible for GRE in your router died, and that's why nothing since has worked. If this is so it might work if you reboot the router... then again it might only work the first time again, in which case the answer is probably new firmware for the router (or maybe _old_ firmware!) or a replacement router...
Or I suppose just maybe when you were first trying setups you also had L2TP/IPsec passthrough enabled and the client in auto-detect mode? A bit of an outside shot that one...

What version are you running on the WRV200? You firmware version will have a lot do with it (we've had headaches testing this thing since it was released back in '06)
