NESN Plus on Channel 81

I just noticed that on Channel 81, is a supposedly new channel called NESN Plus. It's just a still screen with a Bruins vs. some other team logo, the "NESN Plus" logo, and "Sunday April 12th @ 4:30" on it. It doesn't even show a name for the channel in the guide, and it says "To Be Announced." I never knew that there was going to be a new channel called NESN Plus. Did anyone else hear about this?

It's probably there to handle the conflicting Bruins playoff and Red Sox games coming up in the next few weeks (they used to put the Sox on CN8 when the Bruins had a playoff game that night but that's not an option anymore).

i was watching the Sox game on the Extra Innings preview yesterday and they noted at about 6pm at that if the game ran past 7:30 (I don't think that happened), the Bruins game would be on NESN+ in both SD and HD (with different channel locations given). Good that NESN has an HD channel for overflow. I actually saw a commercial on the Sox game for Sunday that the Bruins game would be on NESN+ in SD and HD too.

They cover multiple teams, and seasons and playoffs can overlap. It happens.

Yes, 817 is the HD version of NESN Plus (and is only available in certain areas of Boston where there's enough HD bandwidth).

The channel is only 'on' in April & May when there are Sox & Bruins games at the same time. It's not really an additional channel, as there's no content outside of overlapping NESN games, it's just a way to air both games at once.

Hopefully NESN will continue to air the Red Sox on NESN and move the Bruins to NESN Plus (since, no matter what happens in the NHL, Boston is the Sox town!)

Here's the link of channel listing for Comcast customers outside of Boston: »www.nesn.com/content/shows/nesnp···ult.aspx

So comcast will most likely delete this channel and add another in it's place when the bruins finish their playoff run?

could be, but they may need this space available every April. or they'll preempt a channel (MOJO HD served this purpose) for the couple times they need it since it really isn't fair to hold this valuable space back from a full-time HD channel. in some areas, they preempt TV Guide or something for sports overflow.

Is anyone actually getting the HD feed on NESN Plus HD? I'm in East Hartford and 817 is SD, guy at Comcast in New Hampshire was getting an SD feed too.

Either Coomcast has multiple headends outof whack or NESN is not sending an HD feed like they are supposed to be doing.

81 and 817 are on diff freq's. so it's not a dupe listing.

In Boston, it's 4:3 SD feed on 817 (and 81). I guess (despite the dup. listing) Comcast isn't making it available in HD.

(Luckily I'm not a Bruins fan...)

Not here

Just called comcast and they told me they can't fix the problem.

Whats the point of having an HD channel added if you can't even watch it?

You'll need to check your local system. It may be different.

They should just shut down a VOD HD slot and not a full time Channel

Nesn in Ga on comcast

I have comcast in GA and I guess the only way of getting to watch SOX games is on MLB extra innings for 200 bucks, holy shit.

Wish I had directv for nesn?
