Tomato Blight is a nasty fungal thingy (pardon the technical jargon) that is going wild in the NE this year. The rain helped a lot! Like I couldn't burn my garden this spring AND the nasty fungal thingy thrives in moisture. I talked with the nursery guy on Saturday and he said it's just been a bad year all around for tomatoes. Rainy, cold yuck isn't conducive to a bumper crop like last year. Small tomatoes are forming then rotting; leaves and stems are withering.

On a lighter note, the peppers are KICKIN!!!
Zucchini is progressing nicely as well, thank you for asking.

My tomato plants have tons of blossoms. Have had for awhile....
I haven't seen any growth for a real tomato. I did ONE, but it ended in rotted crap.

Now I am wondering if my plants are doomed too.

My tomatoes have all been done in by the constant rain, and all of the root veggies rotted.

The endless zucchini is also doomed this year, too- a definite first. An explosion in the chipmunk population has decimated the squash and pumpkin plants despite the "rodent rocks" the pest guys placed to "off" them with...

I have mixed feelings about the demise of my zucchini...

My tomato plants are looking not so good. I haven't got a tomato one from it, but have had blossoms for over a month now. Many of the stems and leaves are browning and looking "rotted." They started looking great, then came all the f'ing rain and it has been down hill for them since.

I LOVE tomatoes and was looking forward to eating the fresh one I planted. It isn't looking like that is going to happen.

I sympathize with you...

I haven't had a decent tomato in a *very* long time, and I really miss them. The few that I have seen locally at the farm stands have been very expensive, too.

Search "tomato blight". look at the photos, read the stories. apparently it's kinda widespread. Not a good garden year. Tobacco plants are in tough shape too. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I don't think the attic will be hot enough to cure them. I was hoping to try making a couple cigars. Crabgrass is doing well. I've got mushrooms and moss I've never seen too, kudzu is next.

12 hours later, my mouth is recovering from the peppers, HOT!

After reading about tomato scarcity here, I was so pleased when we went to dinner tonight and were greeted by the host - he told us that they'd just gotten in their first heirloom tomatoes of the season and they were really good!

We sat down and while we were ordering our drinks we started to smell smoke, the fire alarm went off, and we were forced to evacuate the building No tomatoes for us... went down the street to another restaurant instead.

Has the recent sun and heat dried out your tomato swamp garden?

Peppers
Horrible year for to-maters. I fear blight. I had 3 plants from a nice organic farm; last year was a bumper crop. I use water from the dehumidifier to water every-other with some plant food. I ran out of Miraculous Grow, using some old (note the 98 cent price tag) Ortho stuff. A branch I lopped of was replanted in another gahden and it took ! I just started watering it today.
Blow-your-head-off peppers are doing quite well!
Note the usual garden space in the background, it needs a good burning and tree pruning for better sun.
