That's odd. WPA2 implicitly implies the presence of AES support.

The two are (in practice) just as good as the other, but in reality AES is stronger and should be preferred over TKIP whenever all your equipment permits.

Note that some multicast traffic is still actually TKIP unless you have a fancy setup which lets you do otherwise.
