Re: [HD] Msnbc HD coming to comcast in June?
I picked up MSNBCHD today,and i must say it's a joke.
At least it doesn't have ESPN bars,but it has tickers on top,bottom and a bigger one on the right side.
The picture its self is smaller then normal SD. |

Spoken like a true sports FANATIC.
That is what live coverage (and sports channels) are for.
However, for the local stations (and the news channels), HD is just as important (if not more important) as they don't HAVE live events drawing your sort of fan to bring advertiser money. If a local station DOES broadcast or tape live events, if they want HD cameras and such to cover them with, they have to do multiple duty. (That's called "real-world economics".) |

Yeah, I live outside Philly, I have a bunch of HD news channels. There's no use for them.
Sports are more important for HD. You can see the puck, baseball, etc. more clearly. It's not to see the blades of grass on the field, it's to see the break of a curveball and understand why a batter swung and missed.
Not to mention the other channels I listed like HDNet, and someone else mentioned the Travel Channel which broadcast non-sports programming that actually takes advantage of HD clarity.
I have no idea why you would care how clearly you can see the makeup on the face of an anchor reading you the news. Or the wall behind them. |

I can think of many more visually stimulating channels I rather have in HD first, like the Travel Channel, cartoon network, and the Science Channel to name but a few. Couple that with the fact that test paterns get higher ratings then MSNBC leads me to ask why the mad rush to get the channel on Comcast in HD?
