Re: Guide+ Service

FWIW the cable co I work for no longer provides that service because the company that owns the TV Guide wanted to charge us so we discontinued it.

Some people reported being able to get it off air...

Personally I like it this way so we don't have to worry about people not getting TV Guide with cable cards

Can someone explain how this works on a typical Cable system?

The reason I ask is this.

We have a customer that uses a SA Cable Card. The card is one way.
Probably about a month and a half ago, she called in and said that her guide data was missing. Knowing that she was not getting the interactive guide we figured she was talking about the TV Guide+ service.

I figured that the data piggy backed off one of the off-airs and the actual TV set interpreted the data and populated the guide. And when Feb 17th came we just thought that the guide data stopped being transmitted.

Well know after a couple of weeks, the customer called back in to tell us tha tthe guide data was back.

I do not htink that any of our locals are broadcasting solely in digital yet, I think they broadcasting both analog and digital.

Does anybody have aby insight on this?
