Re: How many of you could remeber the first mmo you played?

The first MMO I played no longer exists. It was from Westwood Studios and based in the C&C universe. It was called Sole Survivor.

I guess Usurper or Legend of Red Dragon doesn't really count. The first MMO I ever played would then be Meridian 59.

Guild Wars would have to be the first pseudo-MMO I've played, since it's the only MMO I've ever played. Just not interested in them. They're just overglorified IRC clients.

Ultima Online > EverQuest > Star Wars Galaxies > EverQuest 2 > World of Warcraft

I played MMOs nonstop for like 8 years, but thankfully I have finally broken the cycle hehe. MMOs are great games and I'm glad to see they have become so popular, but for me personally they are just too addicting and time consuming. I had to quit the genre because I felt I was wasting my life playing these games, but I will always have fond memories of them.

EverQuest, Planetside, Dark Age of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft.

Planetside from beta to around core combat, was the most fun I've ever had in any game to date. I wish they never released core combat, and the horrible ideas after.

WoW on a release was a carbon copy of what the high end guilds wanted EQ to be like. Now it's being run by casual gamers, and sadly the casual side is trumping the end-game raider side.

the other games, were drive by night, or just terrible to start (Swg) and enjoy. I hope in the future MMOs get away from the medieval times type feel, and shift more so to the sci-fi genre.

First one I remember playing was in college; Neverwinter Nights on AOL. Played Earth and Beyond until that closed but that was about it.
