Don't port your number at initial Ooma set up.
Go through the Ooma set up as if you had no other phone number.
Ooma will then assign you a new number, with no use or expectation of your old number.
This will allow you an opportunity to test the service and see if you'd be comfortable using Ooma long term. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

Now for the biggest challenge, deciding whether or not to port over my existing number. Decisions, decisions..... |

| Take your time to test it. I've been testing for about a month. So far, it's met 100% of my needs.
Porting can take up to 8 weeks, usually the minimum is 4. Many people get upset when a port isn't done almost instantly. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |
