Indeed, but I guarantee that if you had DSL or Cable for any length of time, you'd never go back. Now that they have airplanes, no one takes a horse & buggy from New York to L.A. |

There's still lots of horse and buggies being driven around by the Amish. Sure they may not take them from New York to LA, but that doesn't mean that a dial-up user never uses broadband either.
Personally, some form of high-speed internet would probably be the LAST "luxury" I get rid of. If it came down to eating, having a roof over my head, etc and broadband, sure broadband would go. But anymore and it's almost as much of a "necessity" as gas and electric. |
