Finally!! I can concentrate on my CCNP...

Yes!!! I finally finished my master's degree!! I had to drop preparation for my first test (BCMSN)to finish my degree, so now everything is all foggy again Hey, at least now there won't be any "jumping-back-and-forth" since I've got one goal out of the way...

Anyhoo, I had a partner who just took the BCMSN and he said that the test snuck in a few OSPF questions to include a question or two dealing with IPV6. WTF?!? I thought those types of questions were isolated to the BSCI?

BCMSN is all about switching (at least that was my experience when i took it back then). IPV6 in BCMSN? never heard of it.

I don't see it in the official exam guidelines either. Must be a beta question that won't count towards your final grade.

I kid y'all not!! What's so bad about it is he didn't pass. On top of that, he let his CCNA expire and he had his CCNP (he passed right before BCRAN was retired). All he had to do was pass this test and he was in the clear again. Now he's got to do 640-802 AND CCNP all over again

That is some bullsh*t if I've ever seen any... Personally, I'm waiting to hear what type of response CISCO gives him about including BSCI material in with the BCMSN exam. Hmmmm... Maybe this is an attempt to shake up folks who bought Pass4Sure....

If that's the reason, then i applaud Cisco for doing that. Cisco needs to crack down hard for those who braindump on their exam.

edit; by the way, congrats on your Masters degree!

Thanks, man...

I'm sitting here getting ready to pop in the trainsignal BCMSN switching course so I can get my mind right again. Deepblackmagic was giving me a hand understanding how to read HSRP debugs because it doesn't make any damn sense to me. Now that I have the time to check things out, I'm going to look at taking the BCMSN b late april or early May...

What's happening, deepblack

Have you ever seen questions from one track (BSCI) used on another (BCMSN)? No kidding, I'm a little concerned now about testing...

I don't understand your issue. Why is routing not considered a part of Building MULTILAYER switched networks. Multilayer beign the key word here, layer 3 (including routing) should be some type of fair game here. I certainly wouldn't expect it to be emphasized in that test but it certainly could be covered to some extent. You're performing layer 3 Gateway redundancy with HSRP/VRRP/GLBP and you don't seem to have an issue with that.

As for IPv6, I don't see where there are any issues having it on the BCMSN as well. If you can assign an IPv4 address to a switch, why not IPv6 as well?

My issue is that is that the information you're referring to (i.e., HSRP/VRRP/GLBP) is inside of the BCMSM Cisco Press book whereas OSPF, and IPV6 are not. If it's going to be on the test, it needs to be a part of the exam prep information that's listed on what to prepare for when getting ready to take the exam.

It's sort of like studying for a pre-algebra exam and then getting a few trigonometry and calculus questions and having someone say "What's the issue? It's math also, right?"

Riiiiiiight....
