AT&T hasn't exactly been the best service in the world either for me (3G issues until they deployed 2nd carrier 3g 850MHz) ... YMMV.
Nextel has worked decently for me, although lack of coverage is my biggest issue. Coverage in the UP of Michigan and Canada is non existent.
