Do I need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem for DOCSIS 3.0 CC Service?

I actually have 2 questions.

1. I currently have a SB5120 that I own, to take advantage of DOCSIS 3.0 I'm going to need to get a new modem, correct?

2. Can anyone confirm for me that DOCSIS 3.0 is indeed available in the SW Suburbs of Chicago?
