@comcast.net | reply to roddy3530 Bandwidth is finite. Sports channels occupy too much as it is. Intelligent programming like Smithsonian channel, AMC, Biography, Planet Green etc are not carried or not carried in HD. |

@comcast.net | reply to roddy3530 Does anyone else think History HD looks not so good? It beats zoom mode standard def but its looks grainy and not smooth. |

CSPAN 2 was removed from Channel 95 (93 MHz). In it's place they threw the 3:1 mux of Discovery HD Theater, Animal Planet HD, History HD. We are still mapped to the old Discovery HD Theater though on 669 MHz (Physical Channel 103).
I'd imagine once all systems in Central PA are migrated to the new 3:1 MUX, they will discontinue DHD Theater on the legacy QAM which is a 1 HD / 7 SD package. That QAM will be freed up for more SD or another HD.
I was unaware that CSPAN2 was removed from Analog. Did this happen last night, or was this always free?
I have to say I'll forget about them all the way by themselves next to that spam "Auto's, shop 887, etc.." So I added them as favorites and parental locked the SD versions. Forgot to set favorites on my new DCX box. |

| Black screen on both Analog and digital. Quiet static sound.
Ch 22 was supposed to go digital only Feb 2008. They decided not to for whatever reason (Maybe because RACC uses it and they would need DTA's in every room with a TV?)
That's an amateur local access channel so it does eff up from time to time. |

| reply to cypherstream hey cypherstream C-Span 2, TCN and Shop NBC where the 3 channels Removed from the Pottsville, Pa 6 months Ago, so for your system just got Rid of C-Span 2 yesterday (For Animal Planet and History HD)and TCN next month (for Possible few more HD) and i thought i heard they doing something about Shop NBC a while ago, but did not go through with it originally, but it could be gone now or later) This then will bring you up to where you should be, in fact your be one channel ahead because would then have every channel that was taken from us earlier in the year, but we still have Style in analog, it never went to channel 118 here, hopefully they, take this off Analog and then give us the History and Animal Planet HD that we should of had 3 months ago and have both of our systems balance out!!! |

We can get the digital version of it only through a QAM tuner, but it's not mapped to our boxes. |

3 edits | reply to roddy3530 Just to let you know, the Reading office on 400 Riverfront Dr. no longer had DCX DVR's as of last Friday afternoon when a friend of mine went to trade up. They are handing out DCH DVR's currently. He will check again in a few weeks.
Ch 22 is still dead in both analog and digital. Did a rescan on my TV and it skipped over 22 completely. Manually typing in 22 it tries to acquire a signal in digital mode for some reason and it fails with "Weak signal".
Since it's not working they should just pull the plug on it and reclaim that bandwidth.
What's up with the Reading Eagle's ad anyway? There are a lot of unanswered questions. If TCN on Channel 5 moves to Channel 26, what happens to QVC on Channel 26? What happens to Channel 5? Are we reclaiming 2 * 6 MHz channel spaces that day?
Is Comcast Central being removed completely? Or are they just now realizing that with a box and basic service you could watch Expanded Basic and up channels that are features on Comcast Central? Right now Lifetime, A&E and MTV are on Ch 960. CNBC, Fox News, Weather, CNN are on 961. Disney Cartoon, Sprout and Nick Jr are on 962. Vs, ESPN, Golf and ESPN2 are on 963. I could essentially have a free ride and watch those channels with basic service if I didn't mind the small video window. |

@comcast.net
| your right cypherstream in fact right now on the Kids Channel , Nick jr and Sprout are definitely at least digital classic channels everywhere, Disney and cartoon are at least Digital Starter (Disney is Digital Classic in Plainfield, NJ)
In Sports ESPN News is at least digital classic/ Sports Package
In News, all 6 feed as of now are at least Digital Starter
Comcast Central Main feed is just the same Feed that you see when you are in the On-demand system itself so it is a complete waste of bandwidth, i hope reading/hamburg get rid of it , i guess that means it should go away then from here in (Pottsville) sooner or later also!!! I know that the New Jersey area is also getting rid of those 886 to 893 On Demand channels as well, the Day that all this crap is out of My systems i will do a Happy dance!!!! |

| apparently comcast is getting rid of bulletin boards nationwide. I had my local franchise director contact comcast about getting a bulletin board setup for my area and the guy at comcast told him that comcast doesn't setup bulletin boards anymore and will be doing away with them by mid 2010. So unless your area programs it's own bulletin board expect it to go dark soon. |

2 edits | reply to roddy3530 Service Electric going Digital
In today's Reading Eagle:
»readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=160464
Highlights:
Service Electric Cablevision is notifying customers it will be converting most of its channels to digital only. That means customers without digital-ready TVs are going to need adapters to keep watching those channels. The company, which serves about 33,000 customers in 30 municipalities in Berks and Chester counties, has prepared a notice explaining the changes.
Additional adapters will be available to rent for $1.95 month or buy for $50 each.
Comcast also making switch
Comcast Cable, with more than 700,000 customers in its central Pennsylvania region, which includes Berks County, also is planning a switch to digital.Called "World of More," the switch is being rolled out neighborhood by neighborhood across the country. The switch has begun in some parts of Philadelphia and New Jersey, but Comcast officials said Wednesday they weren't ready to unveil plans for Berks County.
The officials said customers will receive plenty of advance notice and frequent communications before the switch.
Correction: "Service Electric Cablevision will offer subscribers up to two digital transport adapters at no charge. Customers who need more adapters can lease them from the company. The fee will be $1.95 a month per adapter or a one-time lease payment of $50. A Service Electric representative provided incorrect information about obtaining the adapters for a story in the Thursday Reading Eagle." |
