Mine works with the firmware from dlink for the C1 right now but there is no turning back to trendnet basic firmware. One other thing is that I would need to build a ice cooler to keep it in so it doesn't overheat those Atheros chips for switch controller, WNPU, NPU and flash are one of the worse processors to use.<br><br> ]]></description>

They both used the same OEM and the internal guts were the same between the D-Link and Trendnet. Just had to use a hex editor to edit the end of the firmware file identifying the model, and recalculate the checksum with a program a user here created. Ended up switching to DI-624 firmware to gain 108mbps SuperG and it's been going strong since then.<br><br>Do D-Link and Trendnet both still use Global Sun Technology as OEM?]]></description>

Did the 30/30/30 - reflash it  I didn't bother to do another 30/30/30 on it though, just power off and on method on the second step. It seems gone is the wrong hardware version C2 now it's correct C1. That fixed some other issues. Now 150mbps TX and RX 300mbps. Pretty stong at 92%. I'll place this in use for now. DIR-655 try to see if that one will work. I can tell you that using DIR-615 C1 3.11NA firmware you need to use DNS Relay Enabled and SPI off that works in AP mode.<br><br>DIR-615 even though it's not a GIG switch the wireless is the same one in the DIR-825 (350MHz 16MB) will the 2.4GHz side of it. 400MHz with 32MB of RAM on this TEW-652BRP.]]></description>

Still the heatsink on the WNPU really keeping the Atheros 9103 chip cooler. <br><br><b><br>Xirrus Wi-Fi Inpector<br>DD-WRT Buffalo is showing -51dbm signal G only<br>C2/3.10NB Trendware is shoing -53dbm signal N only<br><br>Difference is -2dbm signal<br></b><br><br>Just to let you know that when you flash this newer firmware the settings are saved..<br><br>Currently I am on wireless N laptop that is getting<br>SS: 84%  QL: 100% ]]></description>

I was surprise to see how well it did outside the house but inside was another matter. Last year there was only 6 houses with wireless now it's up to 10 and 3 are unsecured and last year there was 3 are unsecured so that number hasn't changed.<br><br>I've tested  all the bedrooms on second floor and first floor main rooms and the basement family room. I see than in that room the DIR-655 is in there. It's going to be needed for wireless N as the signal is weak only showing 60/120 mostly a 60mbps in that room. Just like the Master Bedroom 60/120mbps. Dining Room/Kitchen area it's about 120/280 so that's not bad. Those with 60/120 has my concern though.<br><br>All other rooms are 150/300mbps.  Last year I did G with DIR-655 so results were very good using WHR-HP-G54 running DD-WRT. I haven't done it with TEW-652BRP running DIR-615 C1/3.01. Maybe tomorrow or later on sometime. I was more concern with N to see how it did.<br><br>So on the second floor I'll need another wireless N AP to coverage the floor 100% signal and link quaility.]]></description>

The other one on the main NPU won't be coming off. The one I am using on the WNPU had came off old Linksys 5-port switch but so did the NPU that has to be grind down using a dremel tool and use the spin cutter I was able to reduce the size of the heatsink by 3 fens to fit onto the WPNU shown about. I now stand this unit facing downwards with the ANT pointing up. Now it handle all wireless devices.<br><br>I see you did the same thing as me with the sides? But you still have some blockage.. Stock firmware works better.. I'll get another one of these 834Bv2 to use upstairs for N if needed. They're cheap and stable with the stock firmware.. 128 max connections.]]></description>

The WRN834Bv2 firmware GUI is busy and limited. DD-WRT v24 SP2 like with the buffalo router I using as the main router both wired overclock the broadcom NPU to 233MHz and get 330 connections and AP0 along with AP1 twin using DD-WRT also. Never good be better. Clocked in BT at 3.31mb/s for DWL, faster than DIR-655 could have been is only max out of 200 connections.<br><br>Trendnet TEW-641PC works great as it should with it's 2RT2.<br><br>I only have TP-LINK gig, Encore Gig, Buffalo gear, linksys products I don't you any more.. DLINK DIR-655 is my NAS_60, 3 HP Color with one HP MFP (color scanner/printer/copier) on a Gig port really quick to print/copy/scan and you can scan images from any networked wired or wireless system Server. <br><br>Right not that's all that expensive xtreme router can do for me no DHCP/ No wireless. Really don't need a Gig router unless you have to move larger files but I use the Trendnet 8-port Gig metal switch with 144KB clone of the DLINK top end 8-port switch has V-NPU stuff. Move, copy and transfer huge files to and from to each other.<br><br>Now Wi-viz nice wireless mapping tool built-into DD-WRT firmware.<br><br>Well I'll see where the WRN834Bv2 takes me..]]></description>

I did run a test with gluing it on. Boy the gorilla glue is strong can't put that apart again. The heat sink fins are hot and the bottom of the board is hot. But why is the heat still not escaping and hanging around. Okay closer look to find that the side ports holes are block by plastic vent fin covers.<br><br>Using a screwdriver shown in image no.#1 you can see how I had pulled down on the plastic vent fins.<br>Wiggle them back and forth motion until the pop off.<br>The one in the rear very careful and do it slowly. I didn't damage mine case but it could happen so be warn.<br> <IMG SRC="http://pic19.picturetrail.com/VOL1099/4465559/21344768/354631455.jpg"> <br><br>I use high speed DREMEL to smooth out the rough plastic inside. Now the hot heat can escape instead of just staying in the case and building up in the router causing heat issues. I see after I had taken apart the DIR-655 it's plastic vents are non-blocking as the TEW-652BRP were blocked with just a slit of an air opening on each side. Doesn't make much sense to me to build the case this way.<br><br>Now with the heat sink on the WNPU and the side vents are not blocked it should be cooler now. Also flip the case over since the holes and the button should be on top but they're not so flip the router over so who cares what it looks like.]]></description>

More like 40/40/40 reflash the firmware since there seem to be and issue with the Status Light flashing as I heard that might be the router things it's in the recovery mode causes the CPU to max out!<br><br>1. with power on press the reset button for 30 seconds<br>2. pressing reset button unplug for another 30 seconds<br>3. keep on pressing reset button plug in the power for 30 seconds then release<br>4. Now it looks like the DIR-655 was lagging and I didn't even know until bringing it down today and putting up the DD-WRT v24 sp2 firmware wireless router in place until I can figure out what's going on with the DIR-655. With that firmware I am able to have the switch ports on the router set to full duplex instead of Auto Sense. I tested out P2P, Gig transfers between other Gig Rigs, TEW-652BRP was more responsive, everything was.. Speedtest on internet. Still have to do that later. Daytime speeds were about the same prior.<br><br>It feels like I just had pull out clog in the drain..]]></description>

I am using Odyssey Access Client Manager/Security Client to control the wireless network PCMICA card instead of the Trendnet Wireless N Client Utility. That one seems buggy to me it has a hard time reconnecting and opens up under programs ran. Odyssey reads that my signal is Signal Strong -53dB on my main wireless laptop.<br><br>As for TEW-652BRP the only reason why I installed a heat sink was it was freezing and it was too hot to touch. Most of the heat is coming from the bottom of the unit. A USB Laptop cooling fan can take care of that. Right now its working better with heat sink.<br><br>Your model is different than mine. NPU and WNPU are the same but the RAM brand is different. ]]></description>

The one where you put on the heatsink shows AR-9130 so it must be the CPU. A much smaller chip to the upper left corner has very tiny marking so I cannot read what it is but I guess it's the radio chip.  The long silver rectangular piece of metal with lots of holes just below the heatsink in your pic must be the heatsink or heat exchanger for the whole router.  The bottom face of the router above the circuitboard has vent holes.  I found it's slightly warm to touch.  For now I may not need to add any RAM heatsink as long as I keep the router standing up and the vent holes unblocked.  The narrow sides of the router's plastic case might need holes drilled to vent off any excess heat, if it ever becomes necessary.]]></description>

Now since N was introduce with 1 then 2 more. Things changed.<br><br>Main router has it own SSID<br>Wireless Access points have their own SSID<br>So in other words yes along with there own channels. With G you can get away using the same channel. But with N you can't. <br><br>So you think the 652BRP is getting hot, I know it did using DIR-615 C1/1.01 firmware. But using 1.10.08 and 1.0.08 it doesn't. I just updated back to 1.10.08 without any mods. On the one N working but on another one it can't see the network places shares I have a tweak for that problem but I shouldn't have to use it though.<br><br>I was able to compare download youtube videos and watching a youtube video at the sametime. With G was okay but with N using 652BRP was smoother.<br><br>I don't know if you use Firefox but some videos on Youtube lag but I see there is a fix for that problem. That worked!]]></description>

I remember that both DLink router models DI-524 and DI-624 suffered heat problem and kept rebooting until I kept them upright.  I even glued some RAM heatsinks onto the radio chip inside DI-524. My DI-624 is now relatively stable.<br><br>On another matter, when you use both wireless N and wireless G routers, do you use separate SSIDs and separate channels but keep the same passphrase, or what?]]></description>

Both lost the connection and there wasn't anything that could be done to recover the connection. The router reported problems. Only the wireless g laptop had stayed connection. Oh well so I had to quickly had pulled the plug out of the TEW-652BRP for now. Turned back on the DIR-655 wireless G/N mix mode set the channel to auto and set the 20/40Hz to auto. So far that's working for now that's the only device providing wireless connection in the house and turned off my Buffalo High Power Turbo G.<br><br>On more note the only way this will work is you set everything to 20Hz but that reduces the speed of N to near G quality on the TEW. It's shame..]]></description>

Release the reset button<br>5. open the browser try default 192.168.0.1 <br><br>This is the recovery mode just point it to your folder where you unzip the 1.10.8.bin for the router.  <br><br>Now just update it.. If you get an error then redo it again.<br><br>Now after that wait 3 minutes then unplug the unit for 1 minute. Now plug in the power then press reset for 30 seconds. The status light should show up now. If that status light flashes with the WLAN then you're okay and welcome back to Trendnet firmware again.<br><br>Now go back to the browser set the it to 192.168.10.1<br><br>user name: admin<br>password: admin]]></description>

Try 32-bit INF file for Atheros AR-9281 driver version 7.6.0.239 (156 KB, file name xp3264-7.6.0.239 whql.zip).  Atheros drivers tend to be better and more stable than most stock DLink drivers, in my experience.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1109005"><b>tipstir</b></A> : Got some wows here with this hardware and DIR-615 C1/3.01. <br><br>I did some testing to compare it against DIR-655.<br><br>Each Wireless N Laptop is set to WP2 encryption.<br><br>DIR-655 A3/1.11 276MHz 16MB/4MB<br>Shows wireless status as 160M for each laptop some show excellent 5 bars under SP3 link speed is 120mb/s for each one. Some have very good but the link speed is fro 65 to 120mb/s.<br><br>DIR-615 C1/3.01 400MHz 32MB/4MB(a.k.a name TEW-652BRP)<br>Shows wireless status as 130M for each laptop all show excellent 5 bars under SP3 link speed is 130-150mb/s<br>Once this does work performance over the wireless is quicker<br>than DIR-655, well to me it is wireless not wired now as it only has 10/100 ports]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1109005"><b>tipstir</b></A> : Well I've flashed it and now have DIR-615 C1 3.01 firmware running on a brand new Trendnet TEW-652BRP. The only reason why I had flash this firmware over the Trendnet basic firmware and I mean real basic that's why. I use this as a secondary Wireless N Access Point. These were cheap end of last month around $25 with free shipping. If they go on sale again I'll get another one for upstairs.<br><br> <IMG SRC="http://pic19.picturetrail.com/VOL1099/4465559/21344768/350675537.jpg"> <br><br>Specs: seem the same for C1 version of DIR-615 though.. That blows away the DIR-655, DIR-825, CPUs and RAM<br><br>AR9132 - CPU 400MHz +32MB of RAM non-gigabyte ports though, but I am not using it for gigabyte anyway.<br><br>N link rate 150mbps - in the router under DLINK it reads 130M 40% There seem to be a lot more features than in the DIR-655 A3 1.11 though mostly more security features for Vista.<br><br>Anyway I'll test this some more see how it goes. Until the DD-WRT folks can come with there firmware.]]></description>
