Best you stick with the Trendnet firmware for now as basic as it is, once you start messing around with DLINK DIR-615 firmware you have some issue to deal with on the trendnet. Mine works with the firmware from dlink for the C1 right now but there is no turning back to trendnet basic firmware. One other thing is that I would need to build a ice cooler to keep it in so it doesn't overheat those Atheros chips for switch controller, WNPU, NPU and flash are one of the worse processors to use.

In any case, you might download the newest Trendnet firmware directly from their homepage, and you could then flash that to the device.
(If you have already flashed Dlink firmware there, then you would have to change the ID in downloaded Trendnet firmware to match the required Dlink code, so that the now "Dlink" router thinks that the firmware is correct.) |

The "mod" process is rather simple in reality, if you would like to do it yourself. You only need a hex editor, and after downloading the original firmware from D-Link, you just need to set the ID code at the end of the firmware to match your router's current firmware's identity, so that the firmware update code in router config thinks that the firmware is for itself.
Identity codes:
Trendet 652: AP81-AR9130-RT-080609-05
Trendet 632: AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-00
D-link 615: AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02 |

Brings back good memories. I remember doing this with a D-Link DI-524 years ago to switch to Trendnet firmware. They both used the same OEM and the internal guts were the same between the D-Link and Trendnet. Just had to use a hex editor to edit the end of the firmware file identifying the model, and recalculate the checksum with a program a user here created. Ended up switching to DI-624 firmware to gain 108mbps SuperG and it's been going strong since then.
Do D-Link and Trendnet both still use Global Sun Technology as OEM? |

You have to change the "hardware ID" at the end of the firmware files so that TEW-652 thinks that the firmware is for itself.

I upgraded first to patched D-link 3.01 (which I found there in the thread) and then upgraded normally to 3.11 (as the device thought that is is a D-link box.) |

It can be a bit hidden.
You have to go to »www.dlink.com/products/default.a···vC&tab=3 and claim that you are from USA, and then you get the download links, select firmware, and you see list.

I upgraded to this firmware and it has broken javascript when using "websites I allow". I'm hoping for a fix, but I'm really starting to hate D-Link...

No you can't downgrade with D-LINK firmwares anymore so your stuck with current firmware. Plus the Trendnet firmware was lousy didn't have much features it was just basic. Be very care not to break the router otherwise you'll have to buy another one. |

Yes it has wall mounts and yes it can be used as AP you just disable SPI and DHCP Server. Create a static IP for it. |
