Re: [POLL] 2009 Wireless Service Provider

Just bought a Boost Mobile phone Saturday, 11-14. About to call T-Mobile tomorrow, 11-16, and cancel them.

T-Mobile has easily been the best cell phone company out of 4 I've used. Wife doesn't like it though, as she works further away, and it doesn't work very well there.

Everyone else I know is either on Nextel or Boost, so what the heck, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!

I've been using iwireless here in Iowa for about 4 years now
I've got unlimited voice/long distance, unlimited txts, and unlimited data for $59 a month with a motorokr z6. but the unlimited data is slower than dialup i think.

I'm currently on an AT&T Family plan with 700 shared minutes, rollover, data & messaging plans on two phones, and I'm paying over $200 per month just for wireless. I'm considering moving to a regional competitor called Pocket Communications which has unlimited talk/text/web for about $100/month for two phones.

T-Mobile non-stop since Janurary 2000 (when it was called VoiceStream). In fact, I still use the same Nokia 6190 phone, with the VoiceStream badge, I got when I started service with them.

They're an excellent, trouble free wireless provider with top notch voice quality, IMHO.

I have used Sprint, then T-Mobile, and recently switched to Straightalk (Trac Phone + Verizon Wireless). I checked "other" else I maybe would have needed to check three boxes versus one to document my current provider. Both Sprint and T-Mobile had decent coverage where I live, but could not resist Straighttalk's service plan for the money, and Verizon's Prepaid wireless coverage footprint in western Washington is as good or better than anyone else in this area.

Update as of August 2009-

I still have Verizon, but I ditched AT&T and ported that line to T-Mobile.

Recently switched back to Verizon from T-Mobile. I like T-mobile but the reception isn't as good as Verizon, and with my 24% discount (because of my employer) it was too good a deal to pass up.

Verizon Wireless because they work the best. And Nextel iDEN because of PTT!

I live in Southern California and travel a lot to Mexico. I've had Verizon for about eight or nine years. My cellular is my only telephone as it works so good that I disconnected my land line about five years ago.

Based upon my extensive personal experience and being around people who are always using cellular phones in my presence Verizon is in a class by itself in one area: Reception. In fact I never had a telephone conversation with my cellular telephone where the person I was speaking could tell I was using a cellular.

AT&T is the second most common where I am but it has a lot more dead areas than Verizon.

At least in Southern California Sprint is in a class by itself for poor reception. In fact I can usually tell all most immediately when I am talking to someone on a Sprint phone who is in Southern California.

US Cellular for almost 2 years. Free incoming calls cannot be beat. Their EVDO coverage is pitiful though, especially with 4g starting to be experimented with by Sprint.

However, Im still sticking with USC.

I had Cingular for 2 years and hated it. I had T-Mobile for a year and like it, but it didn't work in all the areas I traveled. I've had Sprint ever since. It works where others do not. Now I am thinking about upgrading. I almost have enough Sprint phones to open a store

I voted for TracFone.

The thing I like most about Tracfone is I only have to buy minutes every 90 days to keep my service active instead of 60 days like most other prepaid providers. It averages out to around $7 a month which is good since I don't use my cell a lot anyway.

AT&T for about 10 years? Love it cant complain, I love it way more then Verizon even though they have great service, I hate there phones and OS. So yeah as long as AT&T is fine for me I probably wont switch.
