JimThePCGuyFormerly known as schja01.Premium,MVM join:2000-04-27 Morton Grove, IL | 1 million customers and now the 1st round of price increases I saw this being discussed over on U-talk and I saw it confirmed on the uverse web site.
Beginning February 1, 2009, the monthly rates for the following services will be adjusted as outlined below. Please note, you may not be subscribing to all of these services:
If you are currently being billed $5 a month for an additional AT&T U-verse non-DVR receiver, the new price will be $7 a month, per receiver. The Movie Package will increase from $15 to $20 per month. Paquete Español will increase from $10 to $15 per month. |
|
 | I would dare to venture an educated guess by May 2009 they will have all new customers signing contracts. |

Anything is possible but since the Cable Cos are not doing so I would be less inclined to agree. |

| reply to JimThePCGuy For me, it's a little early for these sorts of increases. The system still has maturing to do. My HD quality is still mediocre and I'm still dealing with annoying 5.1 audio drop outs. I put up with it because I'm getting a good value.
A 40% increase on the price of an extra STB is excessive. That increase will hit around the same time my promos expire. If they keep up with the anti-customer changes it might nudge me to look at DirecTV.

 | reply to JimThePCGuy They might as well dump the Movie Package all together as the Movie Package upgrade will now cost the same as the upgrade from U200 to U300, which includes the Movie Package. |

I find that very confusing! Why would they make the movie package the same price as U-300, which gives you the movie package, plus additional channels? |

 | reply to JimThePCGuy Yeah got a card in the mail today detailing the price increase. I think it is a bit much. That alone will add an extra $9 a month to my bill, an additional $108/year.. And for what?
I may just have to get a slingbox and cancel the whole TV thing. |

Because some people have U-family or U-100 that might want the movie package added to it, but not the channels U200 has. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.

 | reply to JimThePCGuy I received the same postcard...same day as my install! So I signed up 2 weeks ago and I'm already getting an increase? Doesn't make much sense! |
|
 | reply to JimThePCGuy I got the card yesterday also and I haven't even had it installed!!! I signed up under a promotion and they are raising the price already.
They best give me good service on install day and I better have good service otherwise I will collect my 200 bucks and say SEE YA.
Not good business at all, when their competitors are LOWERING prices. |

Exactly what alternate universe do you live in? From where I sit U-Verse is still the best deal in town even after the $2/mo STB increase. |

JBinTX join:2004-05-11 Allen, TX | reply to JimThePCGuy I thought timing was pretty bad for my area. It probably won't effect me to much, just 4 dollars a month for the 2 additional boxes. But the same day I got the card, Verizon started digging in my alley to lay fibre for FIOS. We'll have to see what happens when they finish. Right now I'm still happy with Uverse, though. |

| reply to JimThePCGuy Are you sure about that movie package? The notice I received only stated the cost of the receivers and the Paquete Espanol was going up. I'll have to find it and double check. Had it also included the Movie Package, I know hubby would have informed me. |
