Maggots on the kitchen ceiling So Gross. Need Help!!

So I live in what I would consider a clean house until I looked up one day and found a few maggots crawling on the ceiling in the kitchen. I wiped them down and threw them out but they keep coming back. Looks to be about 1-2 a day for almost 2 weeks now. They seem to be coming from the same general area. An outside wall lined with cabinets with a .75" or so gap where a piece of trim is missing. There used to be a vent there before we redid the kitchen. It was sealed up with insulation and duct tape on the outside. I took a look up there and couldn't see anything on the inside. I also pulled out the duct tape and insulation from the outside and didn't see any maggot farms.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these gross creatures? Please help.

I forgot to mention, I checked all the insides of the cabinets and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

they only feed on dead meat, so there's something dead in your house that needs to be found...

Most likely your nose is going to be a useful tool in your search for the food source.

are you sure it is maggots and not termites? look closely at them next time, if they have legs they are likely termites.

The other thing to look for is they might not be maggots of flys, but worms of moths. Bought one house that had these small moths that lived behind the wallpaper and ate the glue. Those worms seemed like they got everywhere!

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for much.
But they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

It would be very unlikely that fly maggots would only appear a few at a time. They usually, if not always, congregate, en masse, on the food source.

Close the doors and windows and fire a couple of foggers before you go to work, problem solved.

I had these worms of moths once and after multiple searches/killing them only to find more return.... found a stray dish of peanuts high on the mantle someone had placed there which attracted them, once the dish was gone no more worms on the ceiling.

My vote is for moths as well. Maggots would be in the dozens and dozens.

I've never seen maggots(fly) on the ceiling-only on the food source or the floor/ground.

I'll have to go with moths also. Look to see if you have some type of nut laying around(behind a counter or fridge or some shelf up high). We own birds and the seed we buy have eggs all the time. You can't get away from it. Only way we found to kill off the eggs was to freeze the seed until we give it to the birds. If it is moths, they do have traps that work well for them. Took us about a month to get rid of them once we found and removed the source of food for them.

Good luck

Actually the maggots probably helped keep her alive longer... they would have eaten the infection in the bedsores.

Probably meal moth larvae from a bag of flour or forgotten box of cereal.

What size are they? Photo?

Yup. Although I don't believe everything I see on TV, saw that on CSI Miami once. Maggots kept the wound clean, keeping the woman alive.
